The theme for this week's challenge is "Stormy". Could be a rainstorm, lightning, Storm clouds, rough ocean, flooding, etc. I want to really be able to feel the storm coming on. Good Luck!

This challenge begins when posted and ends on Monday, June 20, 2022, midnight GMT. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

The Challenge Rules:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed, not just DSLR.
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer per challenge. List camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data: ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
6. Commenting: No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.
9. Have lots of FUN!

>> THE WINNER ALWAYS SETS THE THEME FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE, POSTS IT AND JUDGES IT - BE PREPARED! <<

Taken on a street in the neighbourhood after Hurricane Igor tore through here in late September several years ago. I lost 3 - 4 big maples in my back yard, too.

This is my first time judging a competition on this site and I honestly had no idea there would be so many great entries for "Stormy". This is a hard choice because I really love all of them.

RDWP, I can relate to your Hurricane Igor picture because I used to live in South Florida and have been through many a hurricane. Beautiful contrast between the bricks and leaves. Lot's of greens that will eventually fade to brown. I can already hear the chainsaws.

TerryPink, I can also relate to your picture because I lived in the South Bay (Rancho Palos Verdes) for many years. We could go for many, many months without a drop of rain. You did a great job of creating a stormy looking pic out of one that is not.

Lt Dave, I really like the fountains without throngs of people. For some reason, instead of a stormy feel it gave me a feeling of serenity. I'm imagining the sound of the water without boisterous people around. I think I could hang out there all day with a good book.

dilorenzo, I'm going to say it again, I lived in New Jersey for most of my childhood and can remember a handful of days with snow to the tops of cars. I never could understand why my parents complained about the snow when it was so much fun. Right now I'm just imagining the work it took to dig a path for that car to exit the garage. It's scenes like this that make me glad to live in Texas.

Eidelweiss, that is an incredible capture of a thunderstorm over the old mountains. The cloud to cloud lightning was a great catch and I love the back lighting in the clouds. The green in the foreground creates a nice border.

OldCrow, your storm clouds remind me of how they roll in here in Texas. A sunny day slowly turns dark with the thunder rolling in ahead of the storm. I love the colors and feel of the picture. A great picture for sure.

In Photo, I have chills just thinking about being in that blizzard. Nowhere to hide from the horizontal snow being wind whipped into the building. Every nook and cranny exposed to cold wind and snow. The stark white in the photo is incredible and really dominates the overall feeling of being in a snow storm. First rate photography.

OK, now that I have written a novella it's time to declare a winner. In Photo you are the winner of the "Stormy" challenge. It's definitely my favorite out of a very tough field of pictures. It is the one that really speaks to me. Eidelweiss, you are the runner up with an absolutely great capture. To everyone else great job and thanks for contributing to this weeks contest.

In Photo, please do the honors of introducing the next competition.
