I can see the difference on my 27 inch 4k monitor. It is not a BIG difference, but visible.

On my 4K laptop monitor the noise difference is noticeable when I look for it but it could easily be reduced in photoshop. A lot of these pictures are being posted after a little tweak with Topaz. Perhaps Canon could include Topaz as part of the package!:-)

The Canon picture processing package looks rather cluttered and, to me, not as intuitive as my version of PS6. But maybe I have not spent enough time with it.
I would appreciate it if someone could give a simple workflow for when I eventually get my camera, as to what is the best way to get the files into photoshop or some other format, or will I have to spend time going through the DNG conversion process? I don’t think Adobe will be giving old stand-alone versions of PS an update, they seem to want to get me on CC to screw me for a monthly subscription.-?

Anyway, so far all the pictures are looking very good to me, I hope I don’t have to wait too long to join the R7 club!

I'm curios if Canon fixed focus peaking on the R7?
Focus peaking was great on the R, but on the R5 the effect is so weak (even at the max setting) that it's sometimes hard to see, which sucks.

C&C always welcome

QUESTION: I set the "Digital IS" to "ON", that was the only IS I could find in the menus. But unlike my L lenses with IS where it stabilizes the image in the EVF I don't see it stabilizing the image, is it only done when the shutter is snapped or is there an issue with this camera or the way I have set it up?

I did do some images of a flower at dusk with the 400mm at 1/50 and 1/100 and the 1/100th image is actually sharp while the 1/50th is soft.

Manual says if the lens has IS then IS is controlled by the lens switch for both lens and IBIS.

Was this the eye focus or manual fine focus point?

I want a new one, I am putting a LOT of clicks on the rental, also I was the one who got them to put one up for rent and I think other people will want to rent it.

Nowadays I just look on it as a tank of gas...

The new one will get old in a week, then what? :-P
(Sorry, couldn't resist. I have no issues. just poking some fun)

IBIS is only useful for shorter focal lengths and barely useful for long zooms. This is why it took canon so long to offer this, in lens stabilization is a much better technical solution.

Aaaaand there it is. Any chance I can nip this right here since there are hundreds of posts already on the board arguing this point?

All true.

The question in my mind is does the IBIS add to the long lens IS; ie the lens provides the coarse angular correction and the IBIS the fine.

The Canon marketing materials seem to suggest this...

Good info.

So how is the optical/hybrid IS controlled or decided?

Those numbers are about what I am finding. Today spent the morning at the pond shooting electronic shutter High Speed but not plus, 15 fps, and did fill the buffer a couple times shooting CRaw.
My concern is always how many shots can I get before filling the buffer

Jack, thanks for posting those links! During lunar eclipses, I often have a lot of shots between 1/10 and 1/4, so I will definitely try out EFCS next time (November 8, 2022 (external link)).

You are very welcome!

I've seen a lot of assertions in the R7, and other threads, with nothing to back them up. With the links, you can assess whether my comments have any validity.
