A few more butterfly shots from over the weekend. All done with the RF 100-500 and using the built-in focus bracketing feature.

I love that we can drop the e shutter down to 15fps! That's almost controllable! :)

All true.

The question in my mind is does the IBIS add to the long lens IS; ie the lens provides the coarse angular correction and the IBIS the fine.

The Canon marketing materials seem to suggest this...

The short answer is that when we went from EF mount DSLR to RF mount mirrorless with IBIS, the number of "stops" rating for image stabilization went from max of 4, up to max of 8.

4 to 8 in one generation. It would be hard to argue that none of that has anything to do with the addition of IBIS. But some still do.

Would love to see those shutter speeds make it to the R6 via FW update.

Mine still showing as “outbound cleared customs” no delivery date from USPS, Canada Post say July 2.

Patience is not my strong suit.

Ohh! It has arrived at the local distribution center, I might see it as early as tomorrow and Thursday at the latest.

Yipee!

Where in the menu is the e shutter burst rate adjustment? I just received my R7 yesterday and am going through the menus and the advanced user guide and can't find that one anywhere.

Seems you set it with the drive mode.

EDIT: from the manual

Thanks Levina, I was aware of that, but Jake said you could drop the E shutter down to 15 fps, which made me think it was somehow adjustable. It's quite a process so far enabling and disabling things to make it behave like my R6. Muscle memory is going to be a problem, I hope it's only temporary. Oops now I see it! Thanks!

Ah, gotcha.

I too have an R6 and foresee problems with muscle memory. Especially the location of the ON/OFF button where on the R6 we have a third dial, that I have set to ISO. I expect to turn off the R7 accidentally a lot at first…

This should be a shock to absolutely no one, but the R7 can do a nice job on macro shots.

I'm still working on lighting and settings but I'm sure I can work it out. Obviously it reminds me a lot of the 90D, one of my favorite macro cameras.

This will be a lot of fun to work with. Being able to use the RF 100mm Macro and the R7, the combination of the 1.4x magnification and 1.6 crop is really going to allow some nice close-up shots!

These are a couple really quick shots and edits. I have a few mantis in my yard...I think I'll try to find some later tonight.
