Apparently Kirk now have an L-Plate for the R7 but the link is similar to the R5 but the pic is different.

https://kirkphoto.com …t-for-canon-eos-r5-2.html (external link)

Any one tried it on the R7?

Any UK suppliers?

Hi Lester,

You might want to check out the "Ellie Short L- Bracket" from 3 Legged thing. I bought this one for my R7 a couple of weeks ago and am very happy with it.. Best Regards, Rich

Thanks for the suggestion.

I see it is two bits screewed together rather than machined from solid.

Does it interfere with the use of the LCD screen? Thanks, Jim

I've got the Ellie L bracket and the fact it's two pieces is an advantage; it means you can position the upright further away from the camera body to give more range of movement to the screen. I've found that if you leave the upright part close to the body the screen ends up effectively at right angles to the direction the lens is pointing !
If you are expecting total screen movement then this won't happen - I believe only the ProMediaGear brackets allow this as the upright section projects forward of the rear of the body.
I bought my Ellie s/h for not too much and I can make it work. New it's quite pricey and I'm not certain I'd spend that much with all the compromises - plus my model isn't the specific Peak Design version so I can't use my PD clip with it.....
My understanding is Sunwayfoto offer a one piece L bracket but getting one in the UK doesn't seem that easy and from their website it's unclear about how much screen movement it allows

Hope this helps

Yes, it will interfere but it is adjustable.. Maybe a little fidgety, but it can be adjusted to not interfere when opening. It will not allow rotation once swung open. If you are serious--I suggest a trip to the Brick & Mortar camera store to see if it fits your needs.

Yes, a 2 piece version. It opens unrestricted when adjusted properly, but will not rotate fully once open. Sorry for the poor description Lester--it does work but is not 100% functional.

Went out over the weekend to one of the local riparian preserves. Not a lot of activity, but this coot was swimming around pretty close and I still have quite a few pictures to go through.

Thanks! It's hard not to over-expose the beak on those, and get them in enough light to bring out the bright red eyes that they have
