It looks more like a bit aggressive sharpening than noise, to me anyways.

mcoren,
How are you processing those? They look super noisy to me. Really scratching my head about it being ISO 800.

My PP skills are pretty rudimentary. I use ON1 Photo Raw, mainly for cropping and exposure/contrast/shadow adjustments. I don't do any noise processing or sharpening but I use the "Structure" slider (like Clarity in LR). I try not to go above 10 with that, but that's probably the noise and aggressive sharpening you're seeing.

I switched to ON1 a couple of years ago from LR because I didn't like the subscription model, but I'm thinking of switching back because I'm paying almost the same for ON1's updates, and there's a whole lot more educational material available for LR.

Just returned from local camera store with my new R7 and 18-150mm lens. WAITING for battery to charge:-x. I am coming from a Rebel XS. Have no idea how change will go but I am very excited to give it a go!!

Capn Jack wrote in post #19400222 (external link)
It will be a huge difference. I still have a Rebel XSi which gets some use, but it doesn't compare to my 7D2 in most measures.

I briefly had an XS and quickly moved to the XSi, which I also still have. I think you are in for quite a treat and a fair bit of learning! I would look for one of those Youtube videos where they go over all the items on the menu just to get a quick overview of everything the camera has. I think the R7's menu has 7-8x more items than the Rebel XS. Of course, you can also just read the manual :)

I have been reading the manual and playing with the menus. But now the screen has gone black and I can't get it back. Looks like either I have touched something I shouldn't have or it is going back tomorrow morning!

Does anything show on the screen when you press the Menu or Info button?
Can you see anything through the viewfinder?

Just starting to play with some of my different lenses. Weather in his area has been crap the past two days so not a lot of opportunities.

Grabbed this shot of my back porch for you, nothing special just across to the neighbors yard on an overcast morning. +1 exposure on the camera when I took it, very minor crop after straightening.

I gave it a quick go at the neighbor's feeder (I feel like I should buy him some feed given how many times I've photographed the birds coming to the feeder). It was actually quite good. Haden't thought of this lens for the R7, but it worked well. A focal length range of 38.4 to 384 can be quite interesting.

Here is the image. Just faithful color and auto. Then the second with Topaz NR.

Here is a 1-1 crop. First just faithful color and auto on LR. Second with Topaz NR Standard auto.

Here is a more reasonable 2x crop. Again, first with color faithful and auto tone in LR. The second with Topaz NR.

Thank you both for sample 24-240 shots.
It came with my RP and was very happy with this lens.

I sold my RP and waiting in the queue for the R7. In the meantime using my Nikon P950 (which i plan to keep along with R7)
