So I've own a 1dx ii, 5d iv and several other DSLRs over the years. Didn't do too much panning on the EOS R to judge it but now that I have the R6. Feel like I can't go below 1/100th and the Hit rate isnt that high on that either.

Yes this could be user error but I've been doing this a long time especially on the 1dx ii. I was panning with 400 f2.8 or 100-400 ii with my shutter as low as 1/20th.

I'm thinking it has to do with the AF. for example on the 1dxii I could have it set to single point and focus on the headlight or wheel and track no problem

But with mirrorless af, yes it has vehicle tracking but you still have to pan with it especially at low shutter speeds so feel like that mode is useless unless the car is coming right at you.

Having that single point made it super easy to keep it where I wanted it. Now the box is massive! Lol Spot af is smaller but still big.

I took a break from photography so my gear below is not updated. My run and gun is R6 / 28-70 for now. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I definitely felt the same when I was shooting an EOS R, but I have to say, since getting the next gen AF and EVF in the R5, I've not noticed this.

It might have something to do with the EVF update rate...60fps on the R, 120fps on the newer bodies.

Did some research...

Mechanical Shutter for most shots, especially at speeds over 1/160sec
* Electronic 1st-Curtain Shutter - for lower shutter speeds than 1/200sec.

I had mine set to Mechanical so I'll give electronic first curtain a try tomorrow
