Obviously what is needed is a camera that accepts two mounted lenses.

They made them, a long time ago:

But they were big and bulky :-)

:-P :p :p

I have the Sigma 150-600C but it is awful heavy. I getting my first knee replacement next month and then the next in March, hopefully by next spring I will be able to carry heavier weights and I need to hit the gym more to build up my arm (like Jarad Polin LOL) so I could hold the Sigma

but in my opinion the RF600 seems a tad sharper and both it and the RF 100-400 focus faster than the Sigma, and my 100-400Lii is better on both counts.

I have a question comparing the R6 to the R7

the R7 allows me to customize almost every button and knob and the control ring. Does the R6 have that ability? That was my biggest complaint about the 90D is that you could program the back buttons for AF but they both had to be the same style of AF, same with the shutter button, you could program 1 point or 9 point or all points but couldn't do what I do with the R7 or 5DIV.

I need to do research

Yes the buttons are all programmable on the R6 and it has that third wheel that can also be programmed. The default on the wheel is ISO, and it's very handy for quick changes.

Very tempted on the R6 as my backup and landscape camera. But having knee replacement in a couple weeks and then the other one at the end of the winter and my retirement fund (401kish) has taken a beating, so for now will be living with my 90D and 5DIV as a backup to my R7

I have decided to try using a 2 wheel hand truck to carry my camera bag when I carry two cameras and lenses and my chair that I sit in while shooting. two places I shoot I only have to walk, hobble, about 60 feet the other just at the back of the car where I back up to the ponds edge, the one I need it is Ellis Pond in Norwood MA where I walk 100 yards along the top of a dam to set up and I can barely make it to that spot.
This bone on bone is really tough.

I put my bag and spare camera next to my chair so I can reach down. When I am shooting with my RF600/11 I have my 100-400Lii or the 70-300 on the other camera next to me.

I have and R5 and R7. It's a great combination.

On the R7, I very much like the position of the control wheel and the extra programmable buttons in the cross keys. Like many, I have the control wheel set for ISO and the multicontroller set for direct focus point control. Thus on the R7 my thumb remains in one place and both controls are right there. I'd like to see a future 5 or 1 series camera that included this set up plus the third dial of the R5.

The preshooting feature of R7 is also great and I've gotten a couple BIF shots at take off that I would have missed without it. Both are wing down positions. Unfortunately rolling shutter in ES on the R7 is such that anything in a wing up position is badly distorted.

Totally off the main topic, but I can't help but to think of how greatly you would benefit from finding places where you can shoot great wildlife and bird photos right from the driver's seat of your car. . I know of bunches and bunches of places where great bird photography can be done by just rolling my car window down and shooting thru it. . And I can often get so close that I can literally fill the frame with the bird just the way I want to.

Have you specifically looked for such places in your region? . I think it would be a game-changer for you. . A friend of mine is older and has health issues and hates to get out and walk, so he shoots almost all of his wildlife out the truck window. . He does great at it and has a fair number of bird photos published in magazines each year.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I have one pond where that will work, only problem is often there are a lot of people there and the parking area is full to where you can't park sideways, but in winter I can. Also there it is only walk to the back of the car to set up. My evening place is only a 60 foot walk so very doable. I keep looking for other areas.

There is another area in Brockton MA but that is like setting up in the south side of Chicago, not the safest place to be, in fact my family says don't go there. But while there are a lot of drug deals going on there are also families feeding the ducks etc.

Well my age (and my heavy gear) is finally catching up with me too.

Spent 9 hours shooting Challenge of the Bands at our school's marching band invitational on Saturday, 25 bands, and about 900 pictures (not bursts), then had to rush over and be part of the pit crew to move equipment on and back off the field.

I was sporting the R6, 5D4, 70-200, 100-400, 24-70 and Viltrox RF 85 1.8. I did put one camera on a monopod and that helped save me some pain, but whew....

I hope they come out with reasonably cheap and lightweight RF-S lenses in the future, I would seriously consider those and the R7 for future events if that happened.

I would love the R3, but I doubt that will ever be in my future, just the R6 for now, and later the R7 (or some variant thereof).

I have to edit each and every image individually to crop for composition, etc, and was able to get through about 1/4 of the files last night. At this rate I might be done just in time for the next composition, lol.

By the end of the evening, I was running ISO 32000-51200, and haven't yet hit those files. That should be fun.

I have found the RF 100-400 to be very lightweight and surprisingly good image quality. Yes it is f/8 at the 400mm end but very easy to lug around.

Tough choice between the RF 100-400 f/8 at the long end, and the heavier RF 100-500, f/7.1 at the long end.

My only RF lens is the Viltrox 85 1.8, the rest of mine is EF, as I still sport other non R mount bodies.

Maybe something like this. Looks like the wheels are large enough for rough roads, and can be bought in various configurations.

I was going to buy this to carry my gear at air shows. But I decided not to, since military air bases often have restrictions on what you can bring in.
