So my oldest camera is the 7D MkII. I have never updated the firmware on it. I have updated the firmware on my R6. Is there a good reason to update the firmware on a older DSLR like the 7DMkII?

Is there a good reason to update the firmware on a older DSLR like the 7DMkII? nope - if it's not causing you problems, I'd leave it as it is. some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

I have never had an issue but a upgrade failure can be pretty devastating. If things are working well and there is nothing you need from the upgrade, no harm in letting it slide. However, after the firmware has been out there for some time (months, maybe a year) I tend to go ahead and do the upgrade. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Archibald You must be quackers! More info | Jul 14, 2022 19:31 | #5 Yes, upgrade. As Jack mentions, they won't list all the things they fixed. One can assume that there are numerous little things that they fixed or improved, and they are not going to mention most of those. You won't know which of those might affect you or when. I gotta think it's probably been a couple of years. If that release had bricked features, we probably would have heard about it and probably wouldn't have been the last release.
