This works too if you are in crop or healing and want avoid cycling through the masks.

Yes, that is the new "Adjustment" icon I mentioned. Adobe wanted to streamline the functions I guess, so they added an icon for the adjustment sliders. Previously the Crop/Heal/Mask/Red eye tool were kind of an add-on that appeared on top of the Adjustment sliders (which they still do), but now we have an icon to jump directly back to the Adjustment sliders.

I work with two Behringer X-touch mini's with buttons mapped to the panels and knobs mapped to the sliders within that panel, so it doesn't really bother me. Except when I'm rotating or cropping, as I find that easier to do with my mouse.

Tapping the Escape button on the keyboard (at least on my Mac) will return you to the "Edit" interface from the Crop, Masking, Red Eye, etc. interfaces. Why Lr does not give you that hint (alt text) when you hover over the Adjustment icon is beyond me.

Keyboard shortcuts are your friend. Just wait until Lr copies Capture One and provides you with a method for speed edits of basic things like exposure, contrast, etc. Even less mousing around.

Adobe is good at copying other people's stuff, so hopefully they will incorporate efficiency tools into their interface at some point. It is only a matter of time before they redo their UX and make it efficient - I would imagine people who have spent years logging mouse muscle memory will complain, but we are all pretty adaptable when it comes to working smarter when the tools are given to us. But Adobe took a couple of decades to provide more than four color readouts in the info panel of Photoshop, so I won't be holding my breath....

Complaints on other forums about it. Technically whatever your last edit was is recorded in the history panel so you are done. The slider icon says Edit which takes you back to the editing panels. Paradigm shift and we will get used to it. The more I use it the more I like it.
