Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM - Aperture repair

My trusted EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens began having issues this week. It works great wide open, but errors otherwise. When rotating zoom, it sounds like the ribbon cable inside is damaged and it is no longer communicating with the aperture.

Unfortunately Canon has marked this lens as end of service and is not helpful.

Any advice on locating an aperture ribbon or aperture assembly? There are several items when searching the web; however I don't know the quality or risk of using them.

Does anyone have experience on sourcing this part?

Just my personal opinion, but I would send the lens into a facilty for repair. Replacing the ribbon cable on that particular lens is a tedious project at best. Some suggested places, check first on availability and cost, are
