Great shots. I really like the second one. Love the separation of the people between the pillars.

Should enter those in the Linear Perspective competition going on now. Especially the second one. Very lovely.

Excellent work. Everything about it says cold. I wonder what similar shots would look like if taken in the summer? And in color. Two very different stories I suspect.

What's covering the lens in the top right in the second photo?

First shot is at Kings Highway (sign on the wall) of the N train, I think , judging by the fact that it's bellow the surface.
Second shot looks like 20th Avenue of the same train line(judging from the sign on one of the pillars.

Both are pretty good, but I really like the second for the way the vanishing point goes off into bright light, rather than the first one that seems to just keep going for eternity. The people in the second one are awesome too

Thats awesome, looks like a very nice place to shoot. The people by the columns are excellent especially the highlight over the head of the last person - only complain would be about whatever it is covering the top right corner. Tanks for sharing :)

Looks like an album cover that second one BB.

Good work

I don't know what good composition is.... Sometimes for me composition has to do with a certain brightness or a certain coming to restness and other times it has to do with funny mistakes. There's a kind of rightness and wrongness and sometimes I like rightness and sometimes I like wrongness. Diane Arbus

Thanks Demo! No, these pics were candid. Actually, they weren't aware that I was taking a picture of them.

Thanks ajb! The people do seem to have claimed a pillar of their own.

Thanks Ron! Good idea, I'll enter the pics :)

Mills, wouldn't it be a blast if I catch these same people in the same positions during summer, only they would be wearing shorts and tank tops? You never know :)

Hey cool! That blob on the upper right corner is the sleeve of my jacket, which is bright yellow in color. I used my G6 to capture this image, and the swivel screen allows me to use the camera at waist level, facing away from them. I think they just thought I was fiddling with the camera. I am certain, had they known that I was taking a picture of them, they would have turned away (most New Yorkers do, especially in the subway), and the moment would have been lost. Dang sleeve just keeps getting in the way though.

Thanks NYC! We really should get together sometime, along with the other POTN'rs in NYC.

Thanks fstop! Yes, Chudilo got it right. These were taken one chilly Sunday afternoon while I was in pursuit of a couple of second hand lenses in Brooklyn. Chudilo, you are right, this is the N line, but both aren't really underground stations though they are below street level. I love these old stations, so full of character.

Thanks for the review Rich! I agree that the second looks better, the first looks just too centralized in composition. Makes a good counterpoint for the second though. The people are indeed interesting and of varied ethnicity - the foremost is Hispanic, the lady is Russian, and the guy at the back is Asian.

Thanks hem, that drak blob on the corner is my jacket sleeve, which just keeps getting in the way.
