Hello, people.

Very simple question for you. When you look at these images, in your opinion, what does the driver appear to be doing, immediately in front of the steering wheel?

Sorry for being a bit cryptic. Will explain everything, tomorrow.

What does this have to do with photography? Any response you get to your question is immediately biased as you have cropped images with arrows pointing to the driver's hands and an object. You clearly want everyone to confirm what you think you are seeing. Upcoming court case? lol

I sure hope you're not doing this to find any fault with the driver of that van. . Appears to me that he/she is driving in a safe and orderly manner, and is not distracted to any unsafe degree.

Looks like maybe that left hand is swatting at a fly on the dash? . Either that or tapping the dashboard with her/his hand, in rhythm with music. . That's what it looks like to me.

By the way, is this van really a right hand drive, or did your image somehow get horizontally flipped?

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Tom, I'm not sure the driver is driving at all. There's no motion blur. The van is in the left lane, consistent with (e.g.) European left-side traffic and right-side steering wheels.

The roughly rectangular object might be a (phone?) camera, in use to conduct surveillance or document something. "Your honor, our next witness happened on the scene of the collision, immediately stopped his vehicle, and recorded the positions of . . ."

I also notice that the two photos above are two different photos as the angles and positions of the fingers are different. I'm wondering what is the reason for this.

...to better show the use of the mobile device that we're all supposed to see, of course lol

I never noticed a rectangular shaped object until I read your post. . I guess it does kinda look like maybe there is something being held by the fingers, but it isn't clear enough to tell for sure.

I just really hope that the driver doesn't get summoned to court or questioned by police or anything. . Guy probably already has a busy enough life without being bothered with providing testimony.

OP, please don't make any kind of report or do anything that could cause this driver to have to turn over his phone or any footage on it. . Just let the guy be. . It's his footage, let him do whatever he wants with it, or do nothing at all with it ... that should be his choice, and his alone (yes, it should be his choice and his alone, even if the footage could save a life or bring someone to justice for a horrid crime, etc.).

Tom! We weren't asked for that kind of feedback. Besides, we don't know the story. Suppose the guy was wrongfully arrested for taking pictures, and these photos of him are part of his defense case?

Holding a rectangular object. It may be a phone, dash cam, GPS, or something else.

Distracted driving is a crime and is very dangerous for both the driver and anyone else that may be in his path.

From the empty ladder racks, I assume he left work in a hurry, but is planning to return. It looks like he's picking up his kids at school, along with a neighbor kid, and will drop them off at the neighbor's house then go back to work. In the picture we find him waiting outside the school.

He's using the time to shop for underwear on Amazon. He's always been a cotton man, but synthetics have his attention today. He likes the claims of comfort and breathability, but he's worried about losing the natural softness that he's been accustomed to forever. The school bell rings and he puts his decision off for another time. Maybe tomorrow.

Am I close?
