Interesting that the contest has a fairly large focus on human / wildlife interaction, rather than just the beauty portraits or cute / interesting behavioral shots.

I was especially glad to see North American photographers and wildlife fairly represented. . So many of these types of contests seem to be dominated by folks from the U.K., and subjects from Africa and Europe. . Nice to see a fair number of images and photographers from my home continent being chosen for category awards and showcased in the article.

Yes, and the comments on some of the photos describe how human activity affects the species shown, where it isn't obvious from the images. That's interesting too.

It is nice to see everyone appreciating the concepts and framing of the images. I am humble enough to say that I'd love to be at the right place & time to photograph these wonders.
