Your use wasn't incorrect. A freeway is one kind of highway.

Freeway (external link)

If it isn't a freeway then it is a toll road :-)

I have been guilty of using "highway" to refer to a freeway, and have been immediately corrected by the friends I was speaking with. . I believe that 30 or 40 years ago, "highway" would have been correct, or at least acceptable, but many people now make a sharp distinction between freeways and highways.

I get confused in London when I get a ride on a Lorrie, then take a lift to my flat.

Is that the Canadian usage, or were you joking? Wikipedia gives an entirely different definition.

Yes it was. A feeble attempt using the words free and toll.

My computer is is set to Canuck so I type colour but in the US it is color. Not sure what people see here. I get a spelling error with color. When I refer to colour profiles in editing software I use color when referring to how it is spelt on the software.

People see what you typed: colour, color, spelling, spelt (we down south write "spelled").

Not sure about spelt. May have used it by by mistake but spelling would be my first go to.

And as we are enjoying words, did you know that smelt is made from dinkel?

No. Smelt is made from roe.

I thought smelt had something to do with elderberries.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I’ve used it many times as bait for fishing.

Honest question. If you could only put this picture in one place, where would you put it?

I drove up to a wind farm yesterday. I got pictures from that trip all over here. Different pictures in different threads. I ran into (away from, really) a group of high-school kids on a field trip. Got this shot of them on the school bus. I rather like it. Where's it go?

I might put it in The Color Orange, because it probably belongs somewhere in Transportation and I don't use Transportation. So that's not a very helpful answer.

This is a toughie. If your main subject is the windmill, the Industrial thread isn't a bad fit.

Yes, the Orange thread. Industrial would also work. So would the Windmills thread. Show us your Clouds? Not a great landscape -- it barely fits that, so probably not there. Definitely works for the Show us your Schoolbuses thread. And the bus has Windows -- yup, Let's See Your Windows thread. Roads thread maybe?

So, you have the option to place the shot in one or all of those threads, I guess. ;-)a
