If anyone's interested in seeing more basketball photos taken with the R6ii, you can see several different games here:
https://cisp.zenfolio.com/f812492242 (external link)

All of these were taken in JPG (I normally shoot raw, but I don't have the latest Lightroom to process the R6ii's photos efficiently.
All have been adjusted for:
- sharpness (around 30-35 on the 'Amount' slider)
- noise reduction (typically around "15" on the luminance slider)
- clarity set to +15
- Vibrance set to +10
- Highlights set between -15 and -30 to bring down some areas that were blown out.
- Tweak white balance, especially in the first couple of games on Jan. 6.

Some photos I may have had to adjust the actual exposure by about -0.3, but those were mostly in the JV game from Jan. 6. Once I figured out my exposure, it stayed set manually, except for the varsity boys games' starting line-up where they use a spotlight on the starters. I used 'Av' mode there because they sweep the spot light all around and I'm just hoping I get enough light for a decent shutter speed.

Exif info is visible when you're looking at a single photo and click the "Info" tab on the right side of the screen, above the other thumbnails.

Yeah I did a grand total of Five weddings - never again...

That is nuts but I guess if you are young enough. When I looked back working shift work and how many hours of overtime I used to put in. I don't know how I did that, but I did. That photographer has a full time editor which would be essential, otherwise I couldn't see how you could do it.

I've done a handful - all for family. I try to avoid it... I suspect I'll get asked to do another one here soon for my nephew's wedding.-?

Pfft...20 was a bad year for us :p. I used to shoot 35-45 a year. 2017 was my worst with 19 but we stopped booking for final quarter because we relocated. In 2012 I shot 48. Lots of work, lots of back to backs, but it was what we did full time

Actually it was an interesting experience. A younger fellow at work was into photography who used Canon asked me to shoot his wedding. After refusing multiple times he talked me into it. He eventually became my shooting partner.

About 6 months before I started to study flash photography which turned out to be a benefit. I was never comfortable using a flash. I took a few courses and my guru wound up being Neil van Niekerk. Sometimes you have to shoot without a flash but I came across natural light photographers that refused to use flash. On another forum one person asked for help to process terrible shots from a reception that was in a dark venue. I concluded even if you are a natural light advocate and don't like using a flash it is a pros responsibility to able to use a flash effectively when necessary. I gained a whole new understating of flash photography which I really liked. Hope I don't tick any pros off.

What I found the most difficult was posing people and getting the money shots. I didn't do this every weekend. With like with any profession, repetition becomes second nature. On Thursday/Friday I'd study them and by Saturday there was so much going on it was tough to remember them all. There were distractions, especially shooting a wedding where you knew the people. Then there was the technical part as well. If something went wrong you had to figure it out quickly. I used to look forward to traveling between venues so I could have a few moments to myself.

I knew there was a lot to it but I gained a whole new respect for pros. You don't make the money by just pushing a button.

This is exactly right and similar to the path I followed in 2008. I have know Neil since 2009 with planet neil and we are both on a private group since DWF broke up. I learned everything about flash from Neil, and cliff mautner and Jerry Ghiones helped me fine tune my flash skills at their work shops. I wanted to learn from the best

Once you know how to use a flash correctly and how to use it to compliment the ambient lighting that you are in, you wind up on another level with your photography skill sets. Lighting and posing and the money shots all become second nature to your shooting routine.

Its always about the light and the direction the light is coming from if your a wedding photographer. Cameras with impressive ISO capabilities are a necessity. We are always at 6400-16000 ISO in most reception situations these days. Not uncommon for me to be at 12800 ISO with a prime at F/2.5 and a shutter at 1/160 and bouncing a flash to get a decent picture. When you do this for many years it just becomes 2nd nature and routine

The new cameras and sensors changed the game. For Canon shooters, the 5D4 and 1Dx2 were game changers. 16000 ISO became usable. This new R62 is really going to be the camera to use for future wedding photographers to use. We DONT NEED large MP sensors. I have not printed anything larger than a 16x24 for wedding work since 2015-16....everyone make albums and makes their own prints these days. So large MP sensors are a waste of $$ for 95% of the professional wedding photographer crowds.......this R62 at 25mp's is perfect. I see a ton of wedding photographers using this camera along with the R6.......and when it gets dark inside these venues.....MANY EXPERIENCED PROs tell me they put the mirrorless cameras away and they still prefer to use the DSLR's....they are much more reliable when shooting in dark venues....I trust these guys as I have known them for 15 yrs in some cases. So my 5D4 is going to my daughter and the 1Dx2 is going no where for reasons I just stated. But I am excited about the R62

I spent a lot of time at Neil's site - Tangents. Learning to balance flash and ambient is the key to it. Once the two exposures in one concept starts to make sense it sure opens things up.

Neil was talking about high ISO capable cameras 10 years ago. A lot has changed in that respect. I also remember you saying you would never use a high megapixel camera for what you do. I only shoot events for charity or favours these days but I'm looking forward to using my R62. After the first day it was one of those - you can just tell it's going to be an excellent camera.

For anyone interested.

This is pretty good too. Syl says controlling shadows is more important than highlights.

I have Syls book and read it a few times. There is a lot of good lighting information in that book. Those that want to lean about speedlight use then this is a must read. Some of the info is now outdated with the new Godox 2.4 trigger systems. I dont know many photographers that DONT use Godox 200's and speedlights v/s canons set ups. For lighting dark venues, the Godox 200's are a far superior way to go

Unsure if this has been posted but, Michael The Maven has currently the most in depth video about setting up your R6 Mark II that I've seen so far.

The autofocus section was really helpful.
