12s used to be a goal years ago, my Z06 and a few Camaros would do it, this M3P is the first vehicle I have owned that does mid 11s in the quarter from the factory, not including my Ninja sports bikes. Cannot imagine 9.3s in the plaid, yikes….

The newest fastest C8 vette would be like getting the R3 maybe, or maybe we haven’t yet seen the R flagship at this point. :)

Quad pixel stacked sensor with a global shutter at 30Mpx… I will go sell some FSR stocks and be first in the preorder line! :D

Can someone explain this. On the R5 and 6 there is a menu called Initial AI Servo pt for. With my R5 I'm on Auto. When the camera wakes up I don't need to press any buttons and the white pre-focus square is looking for an eye. I press the shutter half way the blue AF square takes over. I don't use a BBF for this. I work with the shutter button for both Metering and AF Start. I have other uses for the BBF.

Looking at the the R6II manual it does not have that menu (which is similar to the R7). It does have this new menu that I think replaced the Initial AI Servo pt for. Whole Area Tracking Servo AF.

I'm wondering how I would apply my AF method to the R6II.

Anyone with an R7 that may have some information about the new menu. Here is the R7. Shorter description, same Icon.

Got some feedback from a R3 user which would apply to the R7. That enabling that menu basically activities the white pre-focus square which will start to look for an eye without any user user intervention. The icon in the description shows the white pre-focus square. Post #48.

The instructions for the R6II says Whole area tracking Servo AF says while shutter is "half pressed". Post #47. I hope that is just a typical translation thingy. That is is a nice feature to have.

I just received word from my camera shop that Canon has shipped the first batch of R6II’s to them and one of the cameras is mine. They expect to ship it to me next Tuesday. Yay!

I want to trade in my R6 and they won’t give me a quote up front. So I need to bring it to the shop.

I have a feeling this won’t go well as the price of a new R6 dropped no less than 300 euro this week to 2299 euro! And there is a Black Friday deal with another 300 euro cashback from Canon, lowering the price to 1999 euro! The R6 II is 2929 euro which is 200 more than the R6 was at launch. I had hoped not to have to cough up more than 1000 euro, but that obviously won’t happen now.

Until I bought the R6 I always bought my cameras used so this is new territory for me. What quote would be acceptable, what isn’t? I could use a bit of advice. I mean should I wait maybe for this Black Friday stuff to be over at least? Assuming the price will stay at 2299 euro…

Of course you would want the Mk II then. Especially since I believe in the US it's priced the same as the R6 at launch? That's what Jared Polin said anyway. Over here the Mk II is 2929 euro where the Mk I was 2739 and that was including the RF>EF adapter! The US price difference doesn't seem quite fair. I mean, everyone is hit by this crazy inflation, so why raise prices in Europe but not in the US?

Not that it matters. I'm getting the R6 II anyway. I hope to have it in my hands before the next weekend! Fingers crossed.

My local camera store (Kenmore Camera near Seattle) already has the R6II in their warehouse, but they can't sell them until Tuesday. I'll get one then. I currently have an R5 and an R6. I'm trading in the R5 because I like my R6 pictures better. I'm not a fan of the 45mp sensor in the R5. The R6II sensor should be perfect for my needs.

I love that the R6II sensor has 24mpx. I think that’s just perfect. I don’t need any more either. And I expect it to deliver files that are just as clean as the R6.

Interesting that Canon put an embargo on the camera. Makes sense. Tuesday it is then.

My preorder has also been filled, I am told. Tuesday it is. I am traveling so will call them on Monday and see about delivery.

I have an R5 and have had it for a while and yes, sometimes the large files are a PITA!! On paper at least the R6 II checks a lot of boxes for me. I was thinking of an R6 as a second until they announced the new one.

Happy you mentioned this because I was considering the r5 over the r6 as my first mirrorless.
