I have the EF version. It's on a Canon Eos 1 film camera right now!!!
Yeah? You had to have a bit of luck with the AF though. My own copy had an unreliable AF. But the Nifty that travelled around for the "Where's Nifty?" thread had excellent AF.

It's not just a static site either, and there are enthusiasts who go there to run trams, operate machines and all manner of things. Included in this is a working smithy and I came across a youthful blacksmith busy with the creation of converting a steel billet into a specialized hammer. While he is an arts student at Auckland University, he really enjoys the skills and techniques involved in turning raw metal into objects of practical use and artistic value. He has been volunteering there since he was a boy and now that his mentor has retired, he has taken on the role to keep the smithy and the skill going. We talked for over half an hour as he worked away, so I had to record the moment. Which is a problem. I installed Windows 10 on an internal SATA SSD. So I now boot into Windows, download the raw files from my camera, convert them to DNG and reboot in Mac OS and move the files to my Mac desktop and into Pictures, where I start my usual workflow. But weird things happen if I do some basic tweaks in Lightroom. E.g. if I want to open up the shadows a bit, the whole image is lit up, not just the dark areas. Or say I see a bit of a colour cast and try a different setting, Auto, or Daylight. Nothing happens. So something isn't right. The alternative would be to do my basic editing in DPP in Windows, convert to tiff and then move over to the Mac OS. But I really don't want to do that. The less time I have to spend in Windows, the better. Has Adobe released camera profiles for the R6II? If so, where can they be downloaded, if at all? I have not used Macs for some time, but I understand there is a piece of software that creates a shell within the Mac OS to allow you to run Windows after you had originally booted your computer from the Mac OS. I was led to believe it was highly reliable and effective and permitted apps that work better in Windows to be accessed through your Mac system - would that help you? Also very nice shot, Trevor. I agree completely. He is keen to continue to develop his skill and it's a long-term commitment for him, even as he works on his arts degree. I gave him my card with a promise to share my images of him if he chooses to make contact. "All the beauty of life is made up of light and shadow", Leo Tolstoy;

Did some hobby blacksmithing in the backyard until my stroke in 1999. It has become a storage shed. I keep saying I am going to get back out there but never do. Here is the shop in my backyard. Can't use it, my Mac is too old. However, Windows is installed and it works. Just not very good. That is, it does actually, but the idea was to only use it to convert my R6II raw files to DNG, then take them to the Mac OS and then process them as usual. But it won't work because Lightroom is godawful with them. There are no profiles and none of the sliders work the way they ought to. lowrider wrote in post #19524083 Adobe Camera Raw 15.3 and DNG Converter 15.3 were released back on 4/18/23 and support the R6II: https://helpx.adobe.com …aw-plug-in-installer.html Lou Hey, Lou. But it won't work because Lightroom is godawful with them. There are no profiles and none of the sliders work the way they ought to. I then installed the latest version of Canon DPP on the Windows drive. Converted raw files to TIFF. That works well and the files look beautiful in Mac OS. Lightroom now plays nice because the TIFF files now have a colour profile embedded. Problem is that DPP in Windows is excruciatingly slow. I mean, it was always slow on my Mac, but the word "slow" has taken on a very different meaning here. Plus, the TIFF files are HUGE! 140MB at least. In short, this is unworkable. Hey, Lou. Thanks. Yes, and after installing Windows on a separate internal drive, I could download the latest version of DNG and it does work. But as you can see from my answer to Trevor, above, my problems are not over. I just need to bite the bullet and buy a new Mac. I will take this to the thread I started about this a while ago as it's too off topic here. But thank you both for thinking with! I have used DPP to convert to DNG files and then bring into LR. These files are MUCH smaller than TIFF files. Ed

I can't use DNG's because Lightroom 5.7, on my old Mac Pro can't see the embedded colour profile and colours are weird and inconsistent. That's why I have to convert the raw files to something else!
