Got this today on my canon 24-70 f/2.8L series 1. . A slight clicking when zooming. I did some research and assume it’s the ribbon cable problem. What are my options for repair? Does canon still repair this lens, it’s a series 1.

Canon hasn't supported the 24-70mm mk 1 for a while, but plenty of other repairers will still be able to fix it.

I had mine repaired recently and they simply replaced the ribboncable. Must say the zoom ring is a lot tighter since the repair.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

You have a good repair facility near you…see https://www.chicagocameraspecialists.com/ (external link). I used them many years ago for a repair and was pleased. Also, another at https://standardcamerarepair.com/ (external link). They also have been around for years although I have no personal experience with them.

Same here, just around the 30mm mark. Feels like it's catching on something (ie. the ribbon) inside the ring. Mine at one point actually wouldn't go past 30mm (soft, spongey limit, not a hard limit) and I decided to just use it between 30 and 70 while getting my head around sending it in for the full teardown and repair (which I'm guessing will cost a few hundred dollars). Then the next day it was auto-magically 'fixed'. So will be babying it (even moreso than usual) from now on.

May I ask how much did it cost you to get the lens fixed? The reason I ask is I have the same issue and was quoted a price that I thought was a bit on the excessive side.

Thanks

CC always welcome.
