I live at ground zero and seeing the distraction is a everyday thing. As a photographer I want to document the event, but as a resident I want to forget. My neighbors tell me to document the event for the future. I’d like to hear what other photographer think.
Thanks Jon
Fifty years ago a tropical cyclone destroyed the town I live in and many people died (I wasn't living here then). It has since been rebuilt but many people who were here and experienced it first hand are still traumatised by the experience. There were many, now iconic, photos taken of the aftermath of that cyclone and they serve as a very potent reminder to the many new arrivals in this town who don't understand the incredibly dangerous and destructive potential of tropical cyclones, and who may otherwise be blasé about preparing for them. I reckon you should document what you see.
Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.
