My daughter wants a camera with the ability for remote review of selfies. She'd also like it to be a decent camera.

The apps from Canon, Nikon, and Sony all have negative reviews regarding connectivity. She has an I-Phone

My budget is US$500 which means I'll be spending over US$700. The G-series has always been my go to line when people want a walk-around camera.

The app issue is what's keeping me from pulling the trigger on getting the G7X. Santa needs help.

Have you read Canon description of that app for Apple? I just found this in the description:

"・ Importing RAW (.CR2) format is possible with wireless compatible EOS models and some PowerShot models (G1 X Mark III / G9 X Mark II / G7 X Mark II)."

Canon information specific to the Powershot G7 Mark III https://www.canon-europe.com …x-mark-iii.html?type=apps (external link)

Information on the web also gives some other info about the app https://expertphotography.com/canon-camera-connect/ (external link)

This was said about the G7X in a review published in 2014

"Wi-Fi is built in. You can launch the Wi-Fi menu during image playback via the up direction of the rear control dial, or connect directly to a smartphone using a button on the right side. If your phone has NFC, tapping to connect is also an option. You can transfer images and video clips directly from the camera to your iOS or Android device via the free Canon CameraWindow app. Remote control is also supported via the app, but functionality is limited. You can adjust the zoom, set the self-timer, and fire the shutter, but you can't select a focus point or adjust exposure settings. CameraWindow has a location log option; if you enable it, you can use it to add location data to photos on the camera, assuming that the clocks are set the same on the two devices."
