I got the M6 (original body) with the kit 18-55 lens. Everything is stock on this body and I've updated her to the latest firmware.

I had used the camera around the house to shoot and test and everything seemed fine.

However, I took her out on our first big trip overseas to Greece these past two weeks and the first thing I noticed is how quickly she seemed to go through batteries.

I used her like I did my dSLRs - always on, with the LCD and camera shutting off after 1 minute. LCD brightness up pretty high, with ECO Mode and Bluetooth turned off.

Image stabilizing was on in the lens as well, I believe.

I didn't use the flash much and I didn't do too many long reviews, other than the automatic 2 sec. review after each shot.

On my dSLRs, I can go usually anywhere from 350-500 shots before having to think about the battery.

On my M6, I can get at most 125-150 shots/battery, even though the instruction manual gives this battery pack a rated life of around 295 shots.

These are a mix of original new Canon LP-E17s and Wasabi brand LP-E17s.

I turn off the image preview on my M50, and also never use the rear LCD. All I can eek out of my batteries are about 200 shots. Those batteries are tiny, about 1/2 the capacity of something like the LpE6.

So it is not only me then, I see? The M6 doesn't have an EVF, so it is rear LCD all the time when shooting. I keep reading comments in other places where people are mentioning getting hundreds of shots per battery in their M6s, and here I can barely clear 125 shots/battery. I come from dSLRs that used the BP511 batteries, and those damn things would last all day and then some.

I had an M50 for a little bit. Holy cow, it felt like I was shooting film again. 36 frames and change cassettes. I got more than that, but it was kind of a deal breaker. I think most are sold for video. Maybe it's better for that.

Well for the M50, the batteries are small and cheap, so having a couple in the pocket isn't bad and after a couple hundred shots, replacing the battery isn't very difficult, so I didn't care. It is our travel/vacation camera, so it isn't too much of an inconvenience, given the savings in the size of the body and lenses over my other cameras.
