Are you on a PC with Windows O/S software? If using Windows, at the upper right of the screen do you see [a short line, a single/double box, and an X]?
If single box is seen, click on that icon to expand the window to the full width of the monitor (double box should appear when at full screen display)
On your monitor, you would be seeing use of 1280 pixels, so the black sides should then be visible.

What browser are you using?

Windows 10
Google Chrome

If using Windows, at the upper right of the screen do you see [a short line, a single/double box, and an X]?

This is what I see (upper right hand side) when looking at my blank window screen - is this what you are asking about?

If single box is seen, click on that icon to expand the window to the full width of the monitor (double box should appear when at full screen display)

You lost me on this question/statement above

Do you mean the screen itself has grey bars on each side? Or are you referring to how POTN looks in your browser window?

If it’s the screen then your resolution is not correct and you need to change it to its native resolution. I’m a Mac user and have no idea how to do that in Windows, but Wilt will know.

A picture is worth a thousand words

What do you mean by "If it’s the screen then your resolution is not correct"??

For a Windows 10 PC...

  1. Click at bottom left of your screen area (Windows icon)
  2. Click on Settings (Gear icon)
  3. Click on System icon
  4. Click on 'Display'
  5. Click on 'Display resolution' and set it to 1280x1024 (your monitor hardware capability)
  6. Exit

Going thru all your steps gets me to the same place as this: On an empty windows screen right click on the screen, on the new drop down window click on Display settings.
On the new full screen display find the Display resolution use the dropdown window, which is already displaying 1280 X 1024 on my computer.

You are showing your desktop. What Wilt was referring to was when you have a window open at the top right you should see a short line, a single/double box, and an X. The short line is to minimize the application, the single double box is to size what you see, and the "X" is to close the application. See immediately below.

Yes as I pointed out in a post I just mentioned in the last couple minutes. In that window there is no fixing possible. It only shows you your current resolution.

Aaahh now I understand what Wilt was referring to. The short line is to Minimize a program, the square box to make the program size smaller (I can't think of the correct word for this) , and the X to close a program.

Thank you John!

Wilt said that if it is a single box you can click on it to make the program full screen. He recommended doing that. So try that.

Sometimes it is easy to miss a post or have difficulty finding it again, especially when replies are coming fast and furious. But you can use the tools within your browser. So for Chrome, you should see in the top right corner, three vertical dots right under the square Wilt mentioned earlier. Click that and about 2/3 of the way down the list you will find, "Find." Click on "Find" and in the pop-up window insert what you are looking for. For this example I'll use "A picture is worth a thousand words." See the graphic below, and you'll note there are three instances of the phrase on this particular page (#3). If an instance occurs on page 2, you have to go to the page and do "Find" again. Note you don't have to use the entire phrase. You could use "worth a thousand" and Chrome will find the same result.

Wouldn’t Control F bring up the search window too? Seeing as on a Mac Command F does.
