Pekka,

Thanks for the update and all you do. I'm really liking the changes to the "heads up" and "like" part.

The gear moderator thing is great too! My lenses don't seem to automatically populate but having them in the list is much appreciated. Last night an RF 24-240 populated as RF 100-500L. I looked in my camera bag to see if my RF 24-240 had morphed into an RF 100-500L but no such luck! It's all good.

Thanks again,
Charles

If there are images that do not "get" lens and/or camera, or they produce wrong lens and/or camera to metadata, please PM me url to those posts so I can test them. I have just been coding some extra tools for gear moderators so they can easily get a good picture of the problem images' data content. I have those tools now in my dev system, so I can solve these quickly if I just get the image files.

And no, gear moderators have not yet been selected, mods are gear mods now, too.

1. Strange buggy (?) things happened with POST 19464915. The edit log shows: (1) Four characters at the beginning of my reply were removed. I didn't type those char's or do anything with them on editing. I don't know why they were there. (2) I edited in the first place to add the last two words in the post. They were missing the first time. I swear I had included them when submitting.

2. Not answered: POST 19464632, on preceding Changelog page.

Is the Like button giving an intermittent issue.
A few I've done since starting this morning just offered me CLOSE
I had to repeat to get it to give the normal prompt.
Clean start, cache and cookies cleared
One I noticed had the following

(external link)
YOU LIKE IT 11 MQ REPLY QUOTE
LIKE REPLY NOT DONE: too few characters in reply
(10 required, not including bbcode

That was a straight reply not wanting to type a message

On that same note. Could the quick reply be placed elsewhere on the screen pleased
Currently it sits half under the heads up and I can't see what I'm typing.
In the other (this) Reply mode all other goes away which is good.
Other option make Heads up a floating box we can moved about like they More Tools & Commands
"TIP: you can drag all toolboxes like this around! "

If reply box is empty, that message won't appear. I can not reproduce any problem with that. What browser and device are you using? The character counter is checked server-side when submitted so it should not be possible for a browser to mess it up.

I think like reply should be there next to like command.

Moving HUP (Heads UP) can be possible of course, but how the position is remembered or not is another issue. In editor, toolbox positions can be saved for each resolution, but with HUP that can be confusing. I could add bottom left/right position, though.

Those were linefeeds (newlines). Invisible characters.

Answer is: no, reply HUP's are suppressed also. Like HUP's are shown.

Will do.

Thanks for the info.

RF 24-240 will be detected normally from now on.

I tried replying and added wrong image so deleted post as removed image didn't actually remove it

Problem hasn't happened since

Left or right bottom position would put it out of "trouble " for my use thanks.
That may upset others?

Thanks

I would need a little more than that to get an idea what happened.
Please next time this or something else happens, think back: what steps you did and in what order.

Above is vague, because I have not info
- uploaded photos or embedded photos?
- was preview tried and it showed photo was removed or not removed?

(a hunch of what may have happened): when you upload photos to post, removing the ATTACH tags won't remove the photos from post. When tags are not there, the uploads are added automatically to the end of post. That "add to end without tags" is the old way of doing attachments and it is there for compatibility reasons.
To really delete the uploaded photos, open "upload images" tool and use REMOVE commands there.

Problem hasn't happened since

Phew! :)

Yes you describe as happened.
I tried removing the image but my tablet wouldn't cooperate so I just removed the coded bit.
Obviously didn't remove image
All good

Something isn't clear to me about this change:
FYEO wrote: If you want to stop getting Heads Ups from a certain thread, see bottom of this page.

If I do what the bottom of the page says, I stop getting Heads Ups just because someone simply posts in the thread. Will I still get a Heads Up when someone Likes or replies to a post of mine in that thread?

Pekka wrote in post #19465014 (external link)
Answer is: no, reply HUP's are suppressed also. Like HUP's are shown.

Then I may miss replies. This information helps with deciding how to track new posts. Thanks.

I think the site, with all its changes, works extremely well. it's MORE than good enough to display images and engage with others with similar interests.
(not to mention to hopefully learn a thing or two.)

I'm sure at some point in the future there will be other needed tweaks and improvements, but the latest ones are good to go IMO.

I will second that.

Thanks, much appreciated :-)

Pekka this just happened again and I'm wondering if it's just an internet bottleneck.

I went to LIKE a post but nothing happened, so I hit it again with my stylus (Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G) and again nothing.
Held the stylus down and it asked to view in new window (standard performance, okay) Didn't open, just released stylus and prompt closed.
Then hit REPLY again and I got the response CLOSE. as the dialogue box opened.
Hit CLOSE and then REPLY and all good
