In 2022 I took a trip to the Masai Mara in April. While a trip in April will not have huge herds of wildebeest, and during the "Long rain" season, it has appeal to the more serious photographer. Rain means drama. Wet animals add interest and falling rain in a shot can add interest. Plus there are lots of time when there is no rain but the sky is full of powerful cumulus clouds. Sometimes surrounded by blue skies and other times among rain clouds. This shot was taken right at sunset. While heading back to camp we stumpled upon a large, well known male lion named Orkitok. The powerful cat and strong background storm clouds were an amazing sight; however, the very low light made shooting very difficult.
