One if the benefits of Canon adapter on your EF and EF-S lenses is they now work on your EF-S lenses. My lenses that I use on my Canon 7D 2 (a Crop) now work on my R6 MK2 (full Frame). Somewhat weird but my Canon EF-S 17-55 2.8 works great on my R6 2.

Interesting. I had not heard that before. Thanks for sharing.

How do the corners look?

EFS lenses have always worked with the Canon RF adapter since the inception of the R line. There are no issues with corners because the FF bodies automatically go into a 1.6 crop mode.

Just tried out my first shots today with the 18-55 and they looked pretty good. In focus, clear. need to do some better photos to check more of it out.

Oh. That's not especially interesting then.

Yeah the only RF body where this makes sense is on the R5, since it has enough resolution to still have a decent crop image.

When using EF-S lenses on your R6 Mk II, the camera will automatically crop the image to fit the lenses. Your 24mp will be automatically cropped to about 10mp.

The formula for the calculating cropped MP uses 2.56 (1.6 x 1.6 = 2.56)

Full frame MP /2.56 = Crop MP (24/2.56 = 9.375)

I have a couple of EF-s lenses but have not tried them on the R6 yet. The 17-55 f/2.8 might be interesting.

Yeah, it will work. But if you're going to be using your R6 Mark II as a <10MP camera, you could have saved a couple thousand $ and just bought a fourteen year old, used Canon 40D.

You might want to look for a Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM to adapt. As a full frame lens, it will give you 24MP images and as far as background blur is concerned, the f/4 aperture will give similar results to what f/2.8 produced on your APS-C camera.

The point is you can use EFS lenses and have it crop for you, and sometimes that is pretty handy, like the 55-250 STM. And you get eye AF and all the other goodies like IBIS etc at the same time, with IQ that is quite a bit better than the 40D. ;) There are some stellar EFS lenses that offer many advantages over much pricier options.

If you are sharing photos as small prints or on the web as 2K or 1080, anything > 10Mpx is waste anyways.

Finally, isn't it true that if you frame the material the same either using an f2.8 EFS lens or an f2.8 EF lens, the DOF and everything will be nearly identical? Go to f4 on the FF lens on the R6 and frame identically and DOF will be more and background blur will be less than the crop mode with an f2.8 lens?

I've been using adapted EF lenses on my R6 body for almost 2 years now. I still have no regrets nor hesitations with this combination.

This month, I got to try 2 different RF lenses (first time with RF), and I still prefer the adapted EF setup for an unexpected reason.

I have the adapter with the control ring. I've configured the control ring to cycle between AF modes, which allows me to quickly switch between eye-tracking and spot modes. When using any of my EF lenses, the control ring is in the same position each time. I've already built up muscle memory for this.

On the RF lenses, the control ring is in a different position for each lens. Argh! Annoying.

Just a little thing, I know...

A HUGE advantage of using EF/EF-S lenses on RF/RF-S bodies is that all adapted lenses can be used with CPL and VND drop-in filters.

I started with the drop-in EF-RF adapter but because the clear drop-in filter is so unusually expensive (and I didn’t want to unnecessarily degrade the image with a clear piece of glass), I bought a 2nd EF-RF adapter (with control ring) to have when I didn’t want CPL or ND.

Later I discovered that I could just buy covers for only a few bucks.
