When I'm doing people work, I do use the R5 grips even though it is by far the worst designed grip of any I have used, I still prefer to work with it when I am shooting primarily in portrait orientation. With two batteries I have yet to need to swap during a shoot.

Agree. I've done a few tree swallow BIF shoots with 2000ish images in EFCS mode and still have enough power in two batteries in the grip to keep H+ mode working.

Took my R5 out yesterday, with my 300 and 2x converter on - to see what it was like with BIF - and although the AF was awesome, the blackout time was so long that I missed most of the shots.

have to be doing something wrong!

300 mark 1 or 2? Mark 1 has a very slow response on the R5
