I used to have a 5d4 + 24-70 ii as my workhorse setup, but sold my gear and am considering picking up the r6 as my needs have changed over the years. Small + light is more important but I’ve also got an a6600 which I don’t enjoy using.

The RF 24-70 looks fantastic, but also big and heavy. Is there any known non-IS in the pipeline? No sigma or tamron lenses for RF right? If I use an EF adapter then I’m just adding size and weight and complexity in lens changes.

Would love a 2.8 zoom to work with…

At least in my history of photography and my 5d days, I always had a prime or two but my zooms were definitely most used.

Using an adapter doesn’t add very much size, in the way of length. Only about 20-25mm maybe in total equiv length.

The RF lens lineup isn’t mature yet, and there won’t be any RF third party, so your only option is EF lenses, canon or third party, and an adapter.

The Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC G2 works extremely well on my R6. I rented the Rf 24-70 for a wedding and liked it a lot But I wouldn't spend the money for it when I'm totally satisfied with the Tamron.
