Somewhere someone posted pix and gumpf on a neat LCD hood made of some textile with elastic bands to hold it in place. The sort of thing you can stuff in your pocket.

Anybody know about this and where it's available?

Thanks Jack. There is also one from B&H from Petrol.

The one I'm looking for is made of some fabric like nylon, outside a silver gray with a reddish border and something like black velcro inside. It is stiff enough to stay in place, but soft enough to stuff anywhere without being damaged.

Somebody posted a pic of it along with his G3 equipment on some forum I was browsing. One of those things I should have printed out... and didn't...

I got the Hoodman version. I love it. It works great for me. I use it all the time. It has both a strap and velcro, but I only use the strap.

Good luck in your search.

*sigh* perhaps it was the Hoodman I saw, but I don't remember all that large printing on it. Can you remove the printing?

Hi, John,
If you run an author search under "Sheri", she posted her home-made LCD boot on 7/15 under "RE: LCD hood". It looks very practical and compact.

Thanks folks! I finally found a Hoodman H200 in Zurich and also picked up a Silvestri (Italian) bellows hood with a removable 4X loup. Interesting to see where the LCD reaches it's limits and you have to trust the camera or guess on the focus from there.

Umm, I just said I have a Silvestri bellows hood with a 4X loupe.

Are you saying you have some special kind of loupe for LCDs?

Has anyone ever thought of using their hand? When I first got my G3 I used the screen-shade, but it was a pain in the A to put on and take off. I read about a simple technique on another fourm to shade a G3 LCD, "your hand". With the flip out, and moveable LCD it is very easy to angle the LCD and cup your left hand around the LCD to prevent glare. This works as good as mounting a screen or hood. Best of all your hand is very easy to mount and remove when needed. And your hand does not take up space in your camera bag.

Cute.

Depends on how many hands you have.

Let's see,

- One on the monopod, one on the shutter, one on the LCD

hmmm..

- One holding a boulder while hanging over a vulcano crater, one on the shutter, one on the LCD

High stretch..

- One on the bottom of the monopod, one on the remote and one six feet in the air on the LCD

Jungle...

- One on the shutter, six to smack mosquitos and one for the LCD

...something's not working here...

- One for the....
