I have some of each on my new R3.
I had a bright white pixel in the same place in all images, but one of the suggested Manual Cleanings seems to have removed that. But it caused me to test further.
I am using an accurate, but no longer available utility to test and measure luminance and position of all the errant pixels. Called Dead pixel test. I also view CR3's at full screen, 100% and pan the images to see the visible pixel issues. I test at ISO's 100, 200, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400 and 12800. And at 1/30th, 1 second and 2 seconds for a good sampling. Interesting that the worst issues are at ISO 3200.
I am confused as to how a dead pixels can appear in only some ISO's and/or some shutter speeds. I would think if truly dead, then would show at all combinations. But it appears at ISO 100 I have none yet worst case (worse than ISO 12800) ISO 3200 2 seconds I have 7 Dead and 87 Hot pixels. At one second 4Dead and 50 Hot.
So question is: Realizing that "some" amount of maybe hot pixels is inevitable, how many is acceptable on a $6K camera?
And, will mapping all of this be excessive if I expect to be able to use images for large prints and monitors?
Have you tested your R3 for pixel issues?
I have been talking with Canon, but not getting enough information for me to decide how to proceed. I do have the camera schedule to go in to service, but concerned about mapping this amount of pixels and further, I am assuming only the "dead" pixels can be mapped and not the hot pixels and whether I will have confidence in my shoots.
Would appreciate opinions and even stats if you have tested your R3's. Thanks.
Thanks all.
