Hi, I'm printing with a canon prograf 300 from photoshop and lightroom. I sized my canvas to 8x10 and paper size of 8.5x11. Every time I try to print it is coming out at roughly 8 1/8 by 10 1/8. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong! Does anybody have any ideas of what could be causing this?

So the image itself when printed is 1/16” too large on each edge?

Correct. I sized my canvas as 8x10 so it would fit in an 8x10 frame but it’s printing 1/8 too large both ways.

So I added that black border in the photo so I would know where to cut it so I would have even white borders with in the frame. I thought that would make it simple, just cut along the black line and it would fit nicely in the frame. Seemed like a good idea but I can’t figure out why that bordered area is over 8x10.

is your file the correct pixel dimensions to get your desidered output at 300 dpi?

Beyond that, I'm stumped.

Resample the image or canvas to be 7 7/8 x 9 7/8 (or set to 99% scaling)?

Did you try to check the box to fill the canvas size, and not do the 100% scaling?

It appears that the print dialog screenshot offers you the opportunity to apply printing marks to your print. Perhaps use these as a guide to your cut lines, instead of adding a border. Perhaps adding a border is causing some additional print size to be created. Also, is your printer set up for trying to print full-bleed? Sometimes printers have a dialog or choice of specifying the amount of print expansion to cover a full-bleed (all the way to the edge of the media) print. Maybe that is expanding your print area slightly. Often this option is part of the page set up (paper size) dialog, and, in Epson language, this is denoted as "borderless."

I am not familiar with the Canon printer or print options, so take these suggestions as just that!

How are you creating the thin print border?

Kirk
