Excellent series! They're starting to look like young adults. Thanks again for sharing.

Very interesting and beautifully captured.
You've certainly covered a fantastic timeline of their development.

Thanks for posting

Thank you. As of today, we're down to one kid left in the tree. I have no idea where the other went off to, but sometime today, it flew away. I did see mom in her normal hunting spot, perched on a power line at the end of our development, but no sign of dad or the other baby.

I was able to snap a few shots of Biff today, and then a little while later when I went outside again, he had flown around another big oak we have in the front yard and was way up in it! Looks like our little buddies are ready for the next step. I just hope we'll be lucky enough to see them for the next few months before they take off for good.

The first shot is a continuation of the last pair. He opened his mouth and then moved his head down to get a better grasp on it before taking the whole piece in. He looked over at me a couple times, but stayed very relaxed with me. He was much more concerned about other predators coming in, so he had his head on a swivel after just about every bite, looking to the right and up in the trees that were behind me.

We found out we had a new set of chicks in the nest in our front yard 6 days ago, so of course I had to get to work. I plan to get shots from my roof at least once a week, and will be updating this thread so you all can watch them grow with us. Here are some shots from the first two days after we found them. The last shot is Dad.

Great series of images. Thanks for sharing.

Dad was minding his own business, looking for something on the ground.

And then right when he began to fly away, he gets nailed by a mocking bird!

The kids are NOT ok with the constant harassing by the mocking birds yet. I'm sure it will take some time to become desensitized. Here is a very concerned kid watching as his mom was getting attacked over and over in a branch higher up.

Speaking of Mom. Here she is in all her glory. We found a feather a few days ago, after I watched the baby eating on the ground, and I initially thought it was from the baby. Then, after getting this shot, I realized that it was actually from Mom instead! Look at her right wing and you can see the missing feather.

Sometimes they're just in the right place at the right time.

And then I get the attitude again.
