Lets see what you have for Off Kilter photography. This can be a picture with your horizontals running uphill (or downhill), or your verticals about to tip over.

the winner might be where the out of plumb is great or the winner might be where the out of plumb is least. the Best shot might be the Worst shot.

This challenge begins when posted and ends at midnight GMT on April 17th, 2023. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

The Challenge Rules:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed, not just DSLR.
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like, and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer per challenge. List camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data: ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
6. Commenting: No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.
9. Have lots of FUN!

>> THE WINNER ALWAYS SETS THE THEME FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE, POSTS IT AND JUDGES IT - BE PREPARED

Dizzy?

.... OK here we go. Traveling. Again. This just for show, as I would NOT be available next week to judge a topic I might pick.

This is the Hoover Dam, and the Lake Mead recreation Area, photo from 2019. It's distorted thru a borrowed fish-eye lens, not sure if this is what is meant by off-kilter?, but it's my entry. Below is link to someone else's "normal" view of the area. Probably from the same tall bridge.

by MY clock its midnight GMT lets close this out...

great images all the way around.

ill try and give a few words on each...

OldCrow: at first my mind didnt register the liquids running opposite the stripes. reminds me of the fun-houses (which i never really found very fun) as a kid.

Dilorenzo1954: tipping point indeed! that whole boat looks to be 'off'.

RDWP: it took me a minute to register the 'kilter' as being the subjects, because theyre wearing kilts. very original angle (no pun intended).

TerryPink: yes! my sense of balance is WAY off kilter! great angle.

HappyGav: a house only a flipper could love. i almost see a sad look on its' "face".

i think im going to pass the baton on to RDWP for the play on words with the Kilters being off kilter.

i came up with this because when i was but a wee lad in college i also worked for Gannett News Service (publishers of USAToday) and in the local paper, i submitted several photos of a local jazz get together held every year at a local resident's house on the lake. i inadvertently printed one with the horizon angled down about 20o and it got past the Photo Editor (my boss) who when i walked into the dark room the next day there was my photo, plastered to the door with BIG RED LETTERS saying "What are you trying to do Dave? Drain Lake Huron?!"

Congrats. Great play on words. I got it right away. Just wonder where are the bagpipes?

Thank you, Dave, for the nod. The photos here this week were so good! Your topic sure did inspire - thanks to you (and the great Huron Drawdown).

My pic is from an alumni event at my old alma mater a few years back. Lots more of those kilts here - and the missing bagpipes: https://queensbands.org/ (external link)
