I have a Canon 5D Mk II. Lately shooting more indoor events and the ISO is concerning. Anything shot above ISO 2000 is giving less than desirable results.
Looking for opinions. If you were looking for a new camera, would you choose Canon 5D Mk IV or Mirrorless? Thanks.
The 5D4 will provide both much better ISO and 30Mpx.
The mirrorless (R6, for example) will provide pretty close to the same ISO performance (a bit better the higher the values > 3200), but will be 20Mpx. It will give you Eye tracking and IBIS too.
So it really comes down to resolution and features that you want to leverage for your events. I would think for event shoots, eye tracking is pretty critical, I have really started to rely on that myself. I can track faces with the 5D4 by using spot AF and keeping it trained on the subject, but the R6 is more freeing in that sense for better compositional use in-camera.
I have both the 5D4 and R6, I use the R6 more often.
