This their first release so I can't imagine where it will head.

Hopefully to its use on smart objects in Ps with luminosity masking.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

More than likely there will be some type of masking some day. As I was anticipating this release I figured it would work the same way as Enhance did. Not ideal. Eric Chan from Adobe stated that they are already working on eliminating the DNG. Not sure how they would do that. It may be part of the engine at import so then you could adjust the amount of NR and then use the mask on the RAW file. I'd go for that but they would have to find a way to improve import speeds. We'll see.

DXO's workaround for that is young a small window to show past of the file which gives it the sped advantage. However when I had PL3, exporting a file used take 15-20 seconds but I have not used it since PL4 came out. LrC only takes a few seconds to export a file.

Eliminating the DNG would be good too. Re speeds, I've just had to learn patience as everything takes a while on my six year old iMac!:)

I had the same issue on my older iMac. I could only use Topaz DeNoise if I cropped my images by 50%. My new one is close to 4 years old. I made sure I beefed up the VRAM on it because AI eats it. 8GB. My lowly MacBook Air with the M1 chip is faster than my iMac.

All Topaz apps work fine on my iMac. Photo AI takes 45 seconds to export but so did PureRaw 3 and Adobe AI. I don’t have any I information about the Mini. Sorry

They work fine on mine too, just slow. I’m told they’re blazingly fast on machines with an M1 chip though.

Just messing around with it. An
ISO 40,000 thousand file. First is the original and the second through Denoise.

This is pretty incredible to my ole eyes.

This is the latest LR or PS ?

Adobe recommends to Denoise first but most videos show sharpening at the default of 40 or whatever when the user applies it.

I've been refining my workflow and I prefer to zero everything out, including sharpening. I apply just enough Denoise to just get luminance looking good. Back in LrC I apply sharpening that introduces a little noise which is good for printing. It's also good for subject detail. You can see noise at 300% but not at 100%. Then I can add a little masking in the Detail panel. If I want a complete clean background for web presentation I can go into masks and remove it all. Even too much masking in the Detail panel can cause some detail loss.

Note: Denoise does ignore your LrC edits and re-applies them after it creates the DNG. However in the Enhance window you can see the difference between sharpening at 0 and 40. By leaving sharpening at 40 I tend to push Denoise a little more which is not bad. I just prefer the minimal required. It's good for my hobby which is mostly birding but may not work for everyone.

After the DNG opens I tweak Texture, Clarity, Sharpening, Detail and Masking. A lot of videos don't cover that and it will improve detail quite a bit.

I don't know what everyone else thinks but I have been thinking about this the last few days. While I would like a Canon 500 or 600 F4 I doubt I'll ever see one. My wife supports my hobby but it is not her hobby so I draw the line, until we win a lottery.

Not only is Adobe Denoise AI going to save me a few hundred a year in 3rd party NR apps it just may save me tens of thousands in equipment and lugging around heavy gear. Today is the youngest I'll ever be.

This may not be a wall mount but for ISO 20000 not too bad for the web. I kept the shutter speed high to capture them when they take off. I would have preffered lower but I was messing around today and was surprised again. I did have good exposure so I didn't have to lift the shadows. Also there is no colour shift at all using Adobe Denoise which I really like.

I might have another look at the 800 f11.
