This female Barred Owl had been totally hidden in it's nest hole when her mate called letting her know that breakfast was being served. It took her only 2 seconds to emerge and take flight.

This is the second of three images capturing her exit and probably my favourite.

For those of you concerned with the Barred Owl family's safety, the nest hole was right on a campsite in the park. I observed it quietly and carefully from a distance over multiple days. Many people noted that a pair of owls were in the area as they were often quite vocal and visible. The only people that I notified, about the nest location, were park staff.

I specifically delayed posting any images to give the owlets time to hopefully fledge successfully and safely.

Image created on May 17, 2022 in Murphy's Point Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada.
