In PS days you had to create 4 separate layers paint, etc. With LrC 12 you just open it and you have choices. Brush, linear/radial gradients, subject, background or sky. Pick one and abracadabra. I picked subject which took about a second. It did include the reed and in this case I wouldn't worry about it. If was really picky I could create another mask and use the brush to sort that out.

Here I would do whatever adjustment to bird I liked. I could add more masks by clicking on the mask dialogue box. I've done 30 to 40 for my B&W work.

When using masks you have access to all the basic adjustments. With version 12.3 they added curves in masking.

This took a few seconds. It included reed and may not be the best example but it is AI. Most of the time or works great.

NP. It is so easy to use it took no time at all. It was a good idea for new users. A starting base.

Though I do not have the Adobe subscription ... seems the last few updates have been MAJOR.

I would say in the top 3. I hoped and waited for many years for this. I will save a lot of money on 3rd party apps. Money is just part of it. It's also finally not wondering which 3rd party to go with, testing, etc.

I have to admit I did get caught up in pixel peeping. When printing a little noise is necessary to prevent pixelization. However when posting on social media (which incudes these sites) I try to squeeze as much detail out as I can for bird feathers, eyes, etc. That is based on what I see other members are doing. Now with Adobe Denoise I can push Texture, Sharpening and Detail much further than before.

Before importing yo LrC I always pre-cull using Canon's DPP. When importing I have ISO Adaptive presets for each camera. Sharpening, noise removal and several other settings auto apply at import based on a files ISO. Last year I shot our local marathon. About 500 files and it took just over an hour to process them.

I only used 3rd party apps for select files. Since the release of Adobe Denoise I removed DXO PureRaw off my OS. I also got rid of Topaz DeNosie and Gigapixel. I've never been into upscaling. I bought it last year in a deal that gave me Topaz Photo AI for free and gave me another year of support for the other apps. I also used ON1 NN at one time.

Now I just have Topaz Sharpen AI and Photo AI. I'm not sure if I will ever need Photo AI again. It saved me a few times and I used in combination to reduce noise. It was nice to have everything under one roof. Sharpen AI will likely be my go to now, if I need it. Since I pre-cull most OOF files don't get into LrC.

I went to a model airplane show last year and just got there just as this one was ending its flight. I'm big a fan of the Spitfire so I only got few shots in and it never pays to hurry. Topaz Sharpen AI could have handled this just as well.

With Adobe's release of Denoise it feels like there has been a weight lifted off my shoulders.

I bet an Adobe AI sharpening module isn't too far down the road.

This definitely helps. I have no love for Adobe but I like the product. I have all of these the back up plans in case they tick me off but every release make it harder to think where I would go next. The personal website that comes with the plan make it harder as well.

Thanks. Yes there are choices but it has been a while since I built it. Apparently if you sync collections to the cloud (which only sends smart previews) you can download them to the site. I just still download files from my desktop.
