If the two EF-S lenses are the prime reason for choosing Canon, then APSC is the only sensible way to go.

As to MLB APSC DSLR's: 7D2=$500, 80D= $600, 90D=$1,000. (MILCH R7=$1,500).

Within your $1K budget, my choice would be the 7D2.

Just under $1000, but with tax/shipping, it likely will be over.

If you're going to use it only for birding, consider getting an R10 and RF 600mm f/11 STM. You will exceed your budget slightly but if you have time you may be able to get them on sale (I picked up the 600mm for $400 on Canon's refurb site).

If you get just the R10 for now, at least you'll be ready for whatever new RF lenses will come in the future.

This is the option I would go with. You can get a R10 through B&H right now for $879, and if you apply for their Payboo card can also get it sales tax free. Or you can get the kit with RF 18-45mm lens for an additional $20. Add the EF to RF adapter for your two current EF-S lenses, too.

You would then have a platform that will support three pretty good value RF telephoto lenses for birding / wildlife -- the RF 100-400, RF 600 f/11 and RF 800 f/11.

Actually, I plan on ordering an R10 myself (with the RF 18-150 lens) to add to my EOS R (soon to be replaced with a R6 Mk2), and replace my M50 lightweight travel kit. I miss my old 5D3 + 7D2 combination.

The R10 with the 18-150 looks like a great combo for that price. The 100-400 RF looks good too

I decided on the R10 body with the ef adapter from B&H. Applied for the payboo, I thought it would be instant attachment to my profile, but nope. There are 3 days for the promo. I hope the card comes in time.

I ordered mine (with the RF-S 18-150 lens) yesterday. Fed Ex says it will arrive on Saturday.

It's been a few months since I applied for the new Payboo card. If I recall, the initial approval came very quickly (within a day). However, the actual card did not show up for several months. B&H sent me an apology for the wait and also sent me a $50 gift card for the inconvenience (although I hadn't needed to use the card during the wait). I just used the GC for this order.

If you get quick approval, you should also be able to use it immediately. If you have an issue, I would suggest calling B&H to place your order.
