What one camera do you suggest to does it all?
Reason for asking: stop carrying weight of gear on spine.

What do you mean by does it all? There are several options depending on what your criteria is. For me, the 5DIV is my all around winner. Awesome image quality, feature laden, pretty much capable of doing anything you are looking for. For something smaller, I have a Canon SX70. IQ not as good as the 5DIV but for a small camera, it's very high. Couple that with a insane telephoto and you have a super light camera that can pretty much do anything. For something pocket size I have a Lumix ZS-80. IQ not quite as good as the Canon but way better than a smartphone and you can carry it in a pocket without too much trouble. About the size of a small but thick wallet. And my smallest option is my Samsung S22. Surprising IQ and it's with me all the time.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Ok
What I mean is I can’t carry camera equipment like I used to so I’ve decided to choose one camera I can basically cover as much as possible considering that I have interchangeable lenses all the time but they get pretty heavy to carry around.

In DSLR the Canon 5d4. It's a little heavier but less expensive than the alternative.

In mirrorless the Canon R5. It's a little lighter than the 5D4 but more expensive.

In Point-n-Shoot.....many choices but none will completely match their big brothers.

I'm most comfortable with a 2-body kit. But when I can only take 1, with just 1 lens, I use my 90D and an EFS 18-135mm lens. If I have the luxury of 2 lenses, I'll take an EFS 15-85mm and an EF 70-200 f/4.

Light weight, high res, unobtrusive. I like my full frame kits, but the 90D brings back great shots.

I haven't played with anything mirrorless yet, but I see some Canon RF superzooms that seem worth looking at. One of those on a mirrorless body would give you a lot of flexibility without a lot of weight.

There are newer cameras, but I haven't "outgrown" my 7D2. I have the kit 18-55, the kit 55-250, and a Sigma 50-500. I shoot anything from landscapes to animals, so that's a question: What do you want to image?

@drsilver list is good, also @Chuckmiller's suggestions.

After trying to find a camera that will suffice to my interest in shooting, it appears to me that an SLR with one lens will be the best way.
From landscape to sports and portrait.

I have both Sony and canon. I’ve chosen to keep the canon 6D with the 70-200 2.8 IS.
I will be selling my a6000 white body with the 85mm 1.8 and 24-70 f/4 in the summer sometime. They work best in my black/white street shots. Thanks folks

The 6D is a good low-light camera. I have one in the lab.

RP is cheap and light by all means, R8 is not far from it, small RF lenses are cheap step motors from eighties. IMO. But those are light and FF.

You could try de facto dead Canon M (the only true M is with Leica :) ), but good (except been Canon no-frills design of Toyota Corolla) on IQ cameras.

You could even go with SL3 which is heck a lot of camera and good EF-S lenses.

Once you are willing to ditch Canon, some good choices comes as well.

At the end it is just on you. Some of us have grown with only one camera and lens. It was not limiting.

You can use EFS and EF on the M series too and get eye AF to boot (a couple models anyways).

I just went through this, wanting to lessen the weight of the gear I carried.

You left out two critical pieces of information. (1) what do you shoot? (2) what level of quality are you trying to match (or reach) in terms of equipment?

My base was a 5D Mark IV with EF L lenses. I often went out with that body, three lenses, and a tripod, which sums to about 11 pounds.

To save a lot of weight, you need a smaller sensor so that you can buy smaller lenses. Unfortunately, the APS-C market is pretty meager now--several consumer level options, but not much higher. The R7 is a capable camera, but Canon has released only a few RF-S lenses, and no top-level ones. Fuji makes very good APS-C equipment if you are OK with X-Trans files. So my bottom line: APS-C is a real option if you are OK with Fuji or you are OK with a level down in quality--which is absolutely fine for most people.

Another option is micro four thirds. The new OM systems cameras have been reviewed well. There are lots of good MFT lenses, and the equipment is very light. However, you have the disadvantages of a smaller sensor--e.g., weaker low-light performance.

I just opted for replacing my 5D IV with an R6 and replacing the walk-around 24-105. That saves only 300g (about 2/3 pound) when walking around with just that, and 100g less (because of the adapter) when carrying my EF lenses. Really a trivial reduction. However, the image stabilization is so good that I will be able to leave the tripod home much of the time, and that saves me another 4 pounds. However, if you don't generally carry a tripod, this sort of option won't help you. You'll probably have to go to a smaller format. I very nearly ditched all of my equipment to get an OM systems OM-1 and MFT lenses.

Folks
I appreciate your responses and adding knowledge to several ways to try and decide. From the M series to the RP to the small sl3.
Grateful for your knowledge.
As to what I shoot today has changed drastically. All kids are gone and retirement has put a dent on travel like we use to.
Wildlife is out.
I’m sticking to street photography (black/white)mostly….some wide angle photography.
Thanks

Check on original Ricoh GRD (not GR).

Ricoh just came with K-3(3) Monochrome, not heavy DSLR and not heavy lenses. Truly weather sealed (not just light slash resistance).

And if you have time... any light Nikon SLR with wide and compact Vivitar lens will do classic BW, no digital even close to it :) Or do it in classic street style with Leica Barnack and wide lens with external VF.
