Have been going back and forth in regards to switching from Canon 70D crop to FF Canon R6 MII. With the prices of the RF lineup, right now I would be able to get a camera and 1 lens. I’m more into landscapes and nature, general purpose. I’m looking for the best glass. I was reviewing the 24-70L and the 15-35L. Also started looking into the 28-70. If you could only have 1 lens which would it be?

EF lenses work great with the adapter. For me personally, if I could only have 1 lens I would keep my EF50L but for landscapes, travel etc I'd take the 14-35.

I totally agree on the RF 50L.

For travel and a single lens I would opt for the 24-105L, however.

Having said all that, a single lens never is an option in my book .... <ROFL>.

Normally I carry at least Samyang 10 XP, RF 24-105L, RF 35 F/1.8, RF 50L and RF 85, amd often a few more (EF-) lenses.

Kind regards, Wim

If I was going to spend a lot of money on one really nice lens, I'd get one that's as versatile as possible. I'd want it to be the one I use most. For me, that would be a 24-105 or 24-70. Plenty wide through portrait. If 24mm isn't wide enough for what you'll use it for, maybe look at a superwide instead. I find those hard to use, but maybe you're better at it than I am.

Which lens did you use most on the 70D? FF equivalent RFs would be the ones I'd look at the hardest. Narrow it down to 2 or 3 similar lenses then start looking at specs. Canon generally puts their best glass in their fastest (and most expensive) lenses of a particular focal length.

I own an EF 16-35mm F/4L. It's very sharp. Specs out nicely. But it only comes out of the bag for special occasions. I'm glad I didn't pay $2K for it.

For landscapes, I use the RF 24-105L more than any other lens. If you are buying a R6 MII, you can get this lens as part of a kit and save some money versus buying it separately. If you want to add something inexpensive for a wider angle, the RF 16mm f/2.8 is pretty inexpensive, and is small and light weight. It's easy to carry around in your pocket with the 24-105L mounted on the camera. You could get both these lenses for less than a RF 24-70L.
