Any of you train guys use rrpicturearchives ???

Anyone here know what has happened to rrpicturearchives.net ?

I have used it extensively for years to see where else any rolling stock I may photograph has been and add this information to the caption/comment of my images; plus, I save the web address to my bookmarks and also in the caption/comment.

Now, all I get is something about Domain Expired and GoDaddy - whatever that is.

I sure hope this wonderful resource hasn't gone by the wayside like so many good things seem to.

I found my stuff using your link. I haven’t posted anything on that site in years.

Looks like the site is back up. They must have paid their yearly GoDaddy dues.

After seeing your posts, I went and tried again; and, for the first several attempts, I was still getting that Domain Expired GoDaddy page; then, a few minutes later, it started working as it should.

Hopefully, it stays up and running.

I get a big enjoyment from tracking the cars in my photos and seeing where else they have been; and, that is the best of only two sites I have found where you can type in the reporting marks and it will search out and display all pertaining photos.

I have a lot better luck finding my railcars on rrpicturearchives and, in comparison, I might find one out of twenty on the other site; I think that is due to that site being so super strict about photo quality and rejecting more submissions than they accept; thus a lot of sightings never get listed.

I think they miss the boat there; as, people don't usually go to a RxR photo site worrying about lighting angles and photo perfectionism; they go there seeking information; and, a poor photo of a specific railcar with detailed information is far better than not finding any information at all.

There are plenty of sites where one can see RxR photos; but, they have no way of finding specific railcars.
