If you go to any NFL sideline, you'll see a lot of Gizto 2, 3 and 4 series monopods under lenses like that. They're perfect for that, but damned expensive for a broomstick.

I was looking at the Benro SupaDupa monopod. That looks like a very nice one. Benro makes nice stuff. While half the price of an equivalent Gitzo, they still go for $160.

Honestly, look for one that's load-rated for this lens. Not much to a monopod. You don't really have to pay a bundle. I use a Sirui P-326, but I don't have a lens that big. It's rated for 22 lbs.

You might even consider looking for an old, used, aluminum Gitzo. You can find them for pretty cheap, and the difference between a 1+ lb carbon fiber stick and a 2 lb aluminum won't make much difference under an 11 lb lens.

I used an Induro 2 series monopod with a version 2 of the 400/f2.8 and it worked well. I still use it with a 200-400/4f4 lens.

I now own the same lens as OP and am in the same situation. I did just buy a nice monopod on this forum that is rated to just a hair under 40 pounds, so I think it'll work ok for my very limited monopod use.

got one off amazon benro says 44 lbs
I wanted clip/flip locks like the one I have on my 300 seems to be going out of style
very few with good poundage Id like to get 60-70-80 lb ones but I cant do 400 for one
