In view of the effects of COVID on the last Olympics, it was no surprise that Canon chose to suppress introduction of the rumored R1. Now, with another Olympic event to take place, and with COVID largely ended as a major concern, the launch on the R1 in conjunction with that event makes all the sense in the world...it fits past pattern by Canon. No surprise.

As Go said, the R3 is "3" for the reason that we should expect an eventual R1. There should never have been any doubt.

This isn’t really news, right? Didn’t canon already announce they were in development back in March? Everyone used the same excerpt when this was shared.

Still most of a year away... so used R3s won't be dropping in price yet. :(
