Best deal ever! Using the internet I discovered from the Colt web site that it was manufactured by Colt Arms in 1862 and sold to the 11th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. The 11th OVC has a historical web site and from them I found that the pistol was assigned to B Troop and based on the initials carved into the pistol’s brass strapping it was issued to Private Bill Cochran. The 11th OVC was sent west during the Civil War and was initially stationed at Laramie, WY. They protected the Overland Trail and the telegraph lines against Confederate and Indian attacks. At the end of the war they were disbanded and the troops were mustered out of service. Pvt. Cochran survived the war and returned home to Ohio to live a full life and is now buried in an Ohio Veterans Cemetery. The internet can be a wonderful tool for research ![]() Really interesting story, and good research!! ... and, from the good old days, Canon F-1n, FTb, Mamiya 645 (m1000s), etc. -- Rob
