Has anyone had problems besides me . updating lightroom 5 to the latest in a Mac.
every time I do my mac crashes and I have to uninstall it and go back to the older version. I could be happy with the old version, but it does not read some new formats.
by the way I'm not a heavy user . so a pay by month version is a no . for me.

when you say 'latest version' which version is that?

LR5 went to 5.71 (one i used up until just recently) and then LR6 was the last 'buy for life' version that im aware of. i just went to subscription and i believe its LR12...

my wife and daughter had LR6 installed on their computers and i spent a considerable amount of time with Adobe getting an additional 'license' so i could install 6 on my laptop (before i went subscription). i ended up going subscription because 6 wouldnt load some portion of the program i guess because it wouldnt start up.

-im just trying. sometimes i succeed

"the newest version" is confusing. Lightroom 5 is a very old version and was replaced by version 6 more than 8 years ago. Do you mean the last iteration of version 5, or the latest version of Lightroom (Lightroom Classic 12.4)?

What OS are you running on the Mac? Does your Mac crash or LR5 after the update? I’m assuming you install LR5 and then when you try to update to the latest version of LR5 it’s causing issues?
