i looked at all of the forums and couldnt find a specific place to ask

where does everyone (those that still shoot film) get it processed? i could probably find a tank and reels, ive got a changing bag, and could order chemicals but i dont have a good scanner and so to progress from processed film to image, it would still need to be sent out.

there was The Darkroom and Dale Labratories that i had looked into at one time but didnt know if anyone had other options.

thanks! ive got some 120 i need souped and scanned if that makes a difference

If you don’t mind sending your film, you should contact Blue Moon camera in Portland Oregon. They do great work. B&W is all they do. I don’t have their address or phone number but that should be easy to find.

I was poking around rthe web a bit as I have several rolls I want developed as well. I found this site that has several developers listed. They all look reputable.

Interesting topic, as I have 3 rolls of film that go back to the 1960s (I believe). They have been stored in a cabinet all these years.
Most likely they belonged to my mother, but never developed.

I'm curious, won't the image quality degrade after many decades of storage?

I'm in the same boat. I have 2 rolls that i took when I was a kid, one I inherited from my dad and one from my uncle when they passed. I need to pull the trigger and get them developed at some point just to see what's on there.

I've used The Darkroom for 120 and 35mm a couple of times and have been satisfied. I've usually done my own processing and scanning (an old Epson Perfection 3200) and while I'm happy with my results, I shoot film so infrequently that it probably makes sense to just send out future work.

depends a lot on how they were stored. in an attic where the temperature can get pretty high? yeah youll probably have some color shift. BW might have some fogging but who knows until you send them out!

I've used The Darkroom for 120 and 35mm ...

i at on time had printed out a few of their sheets to pack up with some film i was going to send to them but never got in gear with it. i went to their website and they are so busy and short handed, that they are only taking film from EXISTING customers. so they were a no-go this time around.

i ended up paying through Indie Film Labs in Montgomery Alabama. with everything included (better than base line scanning) and no prints its $45 for 2 rolls of 120. one of Black and White i just shot today and one of Color Print i shot in the not so distant past. within the last 10 years (i THINK)...

theyre in an envelope with the packing slip ready to be dropped in the mail. something like 2-3 weeks turn around which isnt ideal for me but what am i going to do? i dont have a proper film scanner for 120 and i havent souped any film since early-mid 1993, and that was on a Wing-Lynch processor...

Before I re-set up my home darkroom, I always used Dwayne's Photo (external link) in Parsons, KS for my film development. They were also the last lab to process Kodachrome before the chems became unavailable.

And if you're into movies, there was a drama called "Kodachrome (external link)" that included Dwayne's a few years ago. Stars
Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis ("Ted Lasso").

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

yeah, i saw the movie a couple of times...

some anachronisms in it though. Ed Harris supposedly had been shooting for 30 plus years. the film he wanted souped was 'his early work' but they were all modern/latest and greatest rolls with the new logo and barcoding for the auto cameras.

i suppose they could have been correct for his era but Ed Harris is a bit older and he should have had an older style of film can. just saying
