When I go to menu, I do not have a selection for AF, Auto Focus. Any ideas?

My reason for wanting this is mainly to make sure it is face tracking when I am shooting portraits for a reunion I am going to be attending.

Your lens is on AF? Not sure if that disables the AF menu on a 90D, though. Don't think it does. Just a hunch.

I have a Tamron 18-400 on it. I will try my Canon 100mm.

The autofocus settings on a 90D are in the orange menu, row 2. Items 11 and 12 deal with face priority.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Is the 'Start/stop" in the Photo position or the Video position ?
What possibilities do you have when you press the Q button ?
Are you using the camera 'through the viewfinder' or are you using it in LiveView mode ?

Very good video that might prove helpful at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcL8-D1jF6M (external link). I also note that many users of the 90D/Tamron 18-400 combination report focusing issue around 200mm to 400mm but normal behavior at less than 200mm. How is your behavior in that regard?

Also, not sure if you have access to the Tamron TAP-in Console but there was a firmware update in December 2022. Some focusing issues were mentioned but none seem to be specific to the 90D. See https://www.tamron.com …d/firmware/b028/canon_ef/ (external link).

I very rarely shoot video and I am using the camera through the viewfinder. I also rarely use live mode unless I am setup on a tripod shooting macro.

Thanks for the video link. I will watch shortly.

I do have a tap in console and updated the firmware about a month ago.

Thank you for the reply

Thank you for the reply. I think you got me where I needed to be. I will get out later and give this a try.
