I suppose you need the EF-M to Ef adapter. There are several to choose from.

Thank you, I appreciate your reply. Sorry I'm a novice with these things, between the two adapters in the screenshot below, what would be the difference between them? Why such a difference in price?

Top one is a OEM device made by Canon. The bottom is some cheap knock-off made by ???. The Canon one will work without issue unless there is something in the Sigma lens that renders it incompatible. The bottom one, well I suppose you take your chances. It may work perfectly but might have issues. In your case with a third party lens being adapted to a Canon camera, the risk of issues will be higher if you also have yet a second third party player. They seem to be a company that originated from China. Found this one article chatting about Viltrox. I've never used any Viltrox adapter so I cant speak to their build quality or compatibility but with a lens adapter, there are no additional optics and I would be surprised if there were any built in electronics. It should be a fancy spacer used to get the correct flange to sensor distance.

EF- M lenses will not adapt to your camera, they will only fit on Eos M cameras, the adapters shown adapt Ef lenses to EF-M cameras.

Ah, your right, I looked at it the other way round. EF lens to M mount. A M mount lens will not mount to a EF/EF-S mount.

No, in addition that lens is identified on the B&H website as “Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens.

Best to return it.

[EDIT]. Corrected description; see https://www.bhphotovideo.com …971_16mm_f_1_4_dc_dn.html (external link)

The lens you bought is for Eos M cameras as shown on the lens cap in your picture,it cannot be adapted to your camera, no such adapters are, or can be made, they are incompatible.

No, in addition that lens is identified on the B&H website as “Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens (Micro Four Thirds)”. That Four Thirds part means a totally different type of camera.

Best to return it.

They did one for Eos M mount as well, now discontinued I think,

I’m going by the DC DN designation on the lens barrel, not the lens cap.

In any event it needs to be returned if possible or perhaps sold to recoup some of the money spent.

EDIT, I changed the description to the Canon mount. See https://www.bhphotovideo.com …971_16mm_f_1_4_dc_dn.html (external link)

Hello,
I have a Canon T3i camera and just got the Sigma 16mm 1.4 canon ef-m lens.
Which adapter do i need to make this fit on the T3i? Thank you

That lens CANNOT be adapted for use on that camera.

In fact, there is no such thing as an "EF-M to EF adapter" and EF-M lenses cannot be adapted for use on ANY other camera besides Canon M-series mirrorless. They have a very short flange-to-focal-plane or "FFP" distance... 18mm. Your T3i DSLR has a 44mm FFP distance. You would need to remove the camera's mirror and fit the lens over 1" inside the camera! Obviously, that's impossible.

This is actually the case with all lenses for mirrorless versus all lenses for DSLRs. You can adapt DSLR lenses for use on mirrorless cameras. But you cannot adapt mirrorless lenses for use on DSLRs.

Return that lens and get another... something actually designed to fit and work on your camera: an EF or EF-S lens.

There is no "16mm" lens with autofocus offered for EF-mount cameras. There are:

- Rokinon AF 14mm f/2.8 (also sold under the Samyang name... same lens).
- Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5=5.6 IS STM
- Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
- Sigma 12-24mm "Art"
- Tokina 11-16mm
- Tokina 11-20mm
- Canon EF-S 15-85mm IS USM
- Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM
- Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM "III"
- and a few more.

NOT the Tokina 10-17mm or Canon EF 8-15mm or EF 15mm... those are fisheye lenses (uncorrected, heavily curved straight lines).

If you don't mind manual focus and manual aperture, there are a number of 14, 15 and 16mm lenses made in EF mount that would work on your camera. They can be good quality and reasonably affordable, but are considerably slower to work with (I do use a fully manual 12mm on one of my cameras for certain purposes, but for much use I need autofocus.)

P.S. Too bad you don't have an M-series camera. That Sigma 16mm is a very nice lens (although a bit large on a small mirrorless camera). I am not knocking the lens itself. In fact I have the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN for use on my M5. There also is a Sigma 33mm f/1.4 in that series, if I recall correctly. They are all top quality. Besides Canon and one zoom from Tamron, the only other company who ever made autofocus lenses for M-series cameras was Viltrox, who make a 23mm, 33mm and 56mm. They also recently introduced a 13mm, though I don't know if they'll ever offer it for M-series.

I've had the Sigma 8-16 for 9 years now. It is a crop lens with an EF mount that will mate with any EF/EF-S mount camera.

For the T3 you get the full 8-16mm range.

On a full frame it will start vignetting at 15 mm or less.

So, yes, there is a 16 mm EF mount lens...:-D Here is the vignetting at 8mm FF
