I'd like to buy a lightning trigger. I don't have a preference as to model or make. I would prefer one with a Canon cord

Do you need an ETTL trigger or a mere manual trigger? I have a Yongnuo wireless trigger from 10+ years ago. RF-602TX and RF-602RX. Interested? No original box. Used maybe one or two times.

No. A trigger that fires your camera when lightning strikes

Save yourself lots headaches. Pluto and Miops are not the ones you want. But right Buy once ! www.lightningtrigger.com (external link) You'll have to wait for it ( currently 3 weeks ) but in the end you'll be glad you did. I have three and a fourth on the way.

Out of curiosity, how do you intend to use it? If it’s for daytime lightning, like photographing the southwest monsoon storms, I’d definitely throw another vote to finding the lightning trigger that TheFloridaShooter mentioned. I have the lightning trigger IV, and it’s the real deal. My chase partner and I were shooting storms a few years ago, he had a knock off. Mine clicked off frame after frame, while his clicked off exactly none no matter how much he fiddled with it. It was in the trash within 2 days.

If you are shooting evening or nighttime lightning, there are better ways to capture it without a trigger by setting the camera to run a stills time lapse.
