Despite the prediction of rain yesterday, I decided to head down to the San Diego Zoo. I hadn't been there since I go the 20D, so I figured it would be a good chance to run it through its' paces with something other than concert photography:

This is a "Lesser Flamingo". Not sure why it's not a "Morer Flamingo", but I don't get to name them:

Thanks to my extensive training in the field of Zoology, I'm able to tell you that this is a "Giraffe":

I don't know what this is, but I loved the expression. He was lookin' at me about as long as I was lookin' at him:

Thankfully, the Polar Bears were pretty active:

I almost opted to put these next two shots, of a Sun Bear, in the "Glamour" section. She was really hamming it up:

These were all shot with the 20D, with the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L and Tamron 1.4TX.

Comments and criticisms are most welcome...

Great shots Steve. I love the (lack of) depth of field on that lens! The flamingo and deer(?) shots really show it off well.

Thanks!

Yeah, there's not a whole lot that I don't like about this lens...

The bear definitely belongs in the Glamour section! She has the posing down to an art.

Love the flamingos!!!!!! The giraffe looks slightly oversharpened, but not sure if it's because of my monitor.

I like the shots but they look a little oversharpened to me (may be because of resizing/compression for web, of course).

Great shots, Steve. The Flamingo really does it for me. Nice and crisp with such great feather detail. Love the Glam shot of the Sun Bear, too.
