Kent County, New Brunswick, CANADA
has to be one of the world's best kept secret. It is bordered by the sea to the east and is made up of small villages, farms, forest, brooks and rivers. I have lived here all my life and
would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent captures Dan. What pleasing colors these photos have. These are some of my favorites to shoot and you've got two in one frame. The enire series is fantastic! Maybe there will be a few chickadees down the line. Looking forward to more!

Hi,
what a great capture, the fact that you laid down to take these shots I think makes all the difference, good exposure for forest ground shots and good colors.

Couldn't believe my luck. Spotted a female Pileated Woodpecker close-by on the ground, so I laid down on my stomach to get to eye level (or close to it)with her. A couple of shots later a male flies in, grabs her by the bill and holds on for a few seconds, then jumps on her back...I think you know the rest!;)

It was over as fast as it started...talk about timing!!

1 - The male shows up, grabbing her by the bill
2 - The action heats up
3 - Look at her face...she's enjoying this!
4 - One happy gal...

then jumps on her back...I think you know the rest!;)

No,not really,what happened next?:lol::lol::lol::lol:

A very nice series Daniel, fast capture with good clarity.
And i bet they both enjoyed it.;):D

The right place, the right time and to top it all off, camera in hand. And people don't understand why we all do this. Shots like these just make me so proud that we have the courage to lug all this stuff around(especially with the looks we get).

Incredible series.

Very, very nice. Excellent captures of a very rare situation to see!

Ducks, yes... pet birds, yes... but to see a hard-to-find woodpecker doing this in the wild and get good photographs to boot, wow!

Man, are you kidding?? What a wonderful series. I've yet to even SEE ONE Pileated and you get two of them and they're mating! Superb. Aside from the humor (look at her eyes in #3!) they are nice shots..very sharp, great colors.
